2010 PSP Chicago Open

From WikiPaintball

The 2010 PSP Chicago Open was the second tournament of the 2010 Paintball Sports Promotions (PSP) season, held from 24 to 27 June 2010 at Badlandz in Crete, Illinois. Los Angeles Infamous won the professional RaceTo-7 division, defeating Tampa Bay Damage 7–5 in the final. The event shared its venue and weekend with an Ultimate Woodsball League (UWL) tournament.[1][2]

Venue and UWL connection

[edit]

The Chicago Open returned to Badlandz after several years at other venues. The field had hosted earlier Chicago Opens during the original NPPL period.[1]

The simultaneous UWL tournament brought woodsball competition to the same site as PSP's inflatable-field competition. The combined programme also provided a shared audience for the accompanying trade exhibition.[1]

Competition

[edit]

The tournament included seven divisions: professional RaceTo-7; Division 1 and Division 2 RaceTo-5; Division 3 and Division 4 RaceTo-4; and separate Division 3 and Division 4 RaceTo-2 competitions.[2][3]

Twelve teams competed in the professional division. The preliminary leaders advanced directly to the semi-finals, while the next four qualifiers contested quarter-final elimination matches.[1]

Professional competition

[edit]

LA Infamous defeated San Diego Aftermath 7–3 in the quarter-finals and Edmonton Impact 7–6 in the semi-finals. Tampa Bay Damage reached the final by defeating Chicago Aftershock 7–4 and Boston Red Legion 7–4.[1]

Infamous won the final 7–5. Impact defeated Boston Red Legion 7–3 for third place.[1][3]
