2009 USPL Las Vegas World Championships

From WikiPaintball

The 2009 USPL Las Vegas World Championships, promoted as the Las Vegas World Paintball Championships, was the fourth and final tournament of the 2009 US Paintball League (USPL) season. It took place from 16 to 18 October 2009 outside the Riviera Hotel and Casino on the Las Vegas Strip in Nevada. San Diego Dynasty won the professional tournament, while Oakland Blast finished first in the professional season standings.[1][2][3]

Venue and scheduling

[edit]

The tournament was held on the grounds outside the Riviera Hotel and Casino. Contemporary publicity confirmed the dates as 16–18 October and advertised accommodation at the host hotel.[1]

An earlier league announcement had provisionally scheduled the Las Vegas finale for 2–4 October, with its venue still to be announced. The completed event took place on the later October dates recorded by APPA.[2][4]

NPPL relationship

[edit]

The event was promoted under the USPL name. In April 2009, the league announced that it had purchased the trademarks and rights to the National Professional Paintball League (NPPL) Super 7 World Series. It retained NPPL sanctioning rules and committees while its member teams considered adopting the NPPL name for the following year.[4]

Contemporary reports continued to identify the Las Vegas tournament and its results as USPL competition.[1][5]
