2009 USPL Huntington Beach Open

From WikiPaintball

The 2009 USPL Huntington Beach Open was the inaugural US Paintball League tournament, held from 3 to 5 April 2009 on the beach at Huntington Beach, California. DC Arsenal won the professional seven-player division.[1][3]

Relationship to the NPPL

[edit]

The USPL was established following Pacific Paintball's announcement that it would liquidate its businesses, including the National Professional Paintball League. The new league was owned by its professional member teams, with former NPPL president Chuck Hendsch serving as commissioner.[2]

Huntington Beach continued the former NPPL Super 7's seven-player format, using the 2008 NPPL rulebook with minor amendments. Many former NPPL professional teams participated.[1]

Professional competition

[edit]

Sixteen professional teams competed. DC Arsenal defeated San Diego Dynasty by two games to one in the final. Oakland Blast beat Los Angeles Infamous for third place.[1][3]
