2006 Australian X-Ball League Round 4

From WikiPaintball

2006 Australian X-Ball League Round 4 was a paintball tournament held on 14–15 October 2006 at Paintball Pete's field at Mount White, New South Wales, Australia. Twelve teams competed in the final round of the Australian X-Ball League season. X-Fighter$ Black won the Pro division, while Straight Edge won Division 1.[1]

Organisation and format

[edit]

The fourth round became the season finale after the cancellation of Round 3. The competition used 15-minute matches with two-minute intervals between points. Teams were scheduled to play ten preliminary matches, followed by semi-finals for the leading four teams in each division. First played fourth, and second played third.[1]

Temperatures approaching 40°C led organisers to shorten Saturday's programme from six matches per team to four. The remaining six preliminary matches were played on Sunday. Reffs Inc officiated the tournament.[1]

Preliminary competition

[edit]

SWAT and Empire entered from the Australian Super 7s competition. Both initially had difficulty adapting to the X-Ball format but qualified for the Pro finals alongside X-Fighter$ Black and X-Fighter$ Red.[1]

X-Fighter$ Red qualified ahead of Jetts by one point. In Division 1, Straight Edge, Sinister, Gravity and Victorious reached the finals. The contemporary report also records Sinister defeating Empire 3–0 during preliminary play.[1]
