Shocktech Factory Team

From WikiPaintball

Shocktech Factory Team, also known as Shocktech Factory or Team Shocktech, was an American tournament paintball team associated with equipment manufacturer Shocktech and Bad Boyz Toyz. The team competed in the National Professional Paintball League (NPPL) and Paintball Sports Promotions (PSP) during the early 2000s.[1][2]

Shocktech Factory Team won the amateur five-player division at the 2001 NPPL Chicago Open and 2002 NPPL Los Angeles Open. It subsequently finished third in amateur 10-man at the 2002 World Cup and fourth overall in the 2003 PSP Division I X-Ball season.[1][2][3][4]

History

[edit]

NPPL competition (2001–2002)

[edit]

Shocktech Factory Team was competing nationally by 2001.

At the 2001 NPPL Chicago Open, held at Badlandz Paintball in Crete, Illinois, from 20 to 24 June, Shocktech Factory Team won the Amateur A five-player division.

The team finished the final round with 239 points, ahead of Deja Vu (226), Strange (189) and Sinister (135).[1]

Shocktech continued competing in both five-player and 10-man tournaments during 2002.

At the NPPL Los Angeles Open in Corona, California, the team won the amateur five-player division.

Because of scheduling delays, the amateur teams elected to determine their final standings from preliminary results rather than contest the remaining elimination rounds.

Shocktech Factory Team finished first with 576 points, ahead of Brimstone Smoke on 544 and Nasty JT on 540.[2]

At the 2002 NPPL World Cup in Kissimmee, Florida, Shocktech reached the amateur 10-man finals against Trauma, Naughty Dogs and Brass Eagle Allstars.

The team finished third behind Trauma and Naughty Dogs.

Shocktech placed fifth overall in the 2002 NPPL amateur 10-man season rankings with 175 ranking points.[3][5]

In the separate amateur five-player series, Shocktech Factory also accumulated 175 ranking points, the same total as Brimstone Smoke, which was listed first.[5]

PSP X-Ball competition (2003)

[edit]

Shocktech Factory Team entered the PSP Division I X-Ball competition during the inaugural divisional X-Ball season in 2003.

The team competed against organisations including Strange, Naughty Dogs, All Americans, Legacy and Jax Worriors.

At the Philadelphia Open in August, Shocktech Factory Team was listed fifth in the Division I standings entering the tournament.[6]

The team finished fourth overall in the 2003 PSP Division I X-Ball season rankings with 268 points, behind Strange, Naughty Dogs and Jax Worriors.[4]

2003 World Cup

[edit]

Shocktech also entered two squads in the five-player Pro/Am competition at the 2003 PSP World Cup in Orlando, Florida.

Both squads reached the finals.

Shocktech Factory 2 finished second behind Naughty Dogs, while Shocktech Factory 1 finished third.

The two teams were listed separately in the official tournament results.[7]

The subsequent competitive history of the original Shocktech Factory Team has not been conclusively established.

Equipment and personnel

[edit]

Shocktech Factory Team used paintball markers and components supplied by Shocktech, a manufacturer associated with Autococker development and customisation.

Contemporary photographs from the 2002 NPPL Los Angeles Open documented Shocktech Factory Team Autocockers, including custom milling and components displayed at the manufacturer's tournament booth.[8]

The team's competitive rosters included established professional players.

At the 2002 PSP Las Vegas tournament, former Chicago Aftershock player John "Spud" Jackson and former Southern California Ironmen player Shane Pestana competed with Shocktech Factory Team.[9]
