1997 NPPL Las Vegas Desert Open

From WikiPaintball

The 1997 NPPL Las Vegas Desert Open was a paintball tournament held in Las Vegas, Nevada, during the National Professional Paintball League's 1997 season. Dave Youngblood produced the event, which ran alongside a separate Great Western Series five-man tournament.[1]

The All Americans won professional ten-man and Enemy won amateur ten-man.[1][2]

Organisation

[edit]

The NPPL competition comprised professional and amateur ten-man teams. The accompanying Great Western event offered amateur and novice five-man competition, with some teams entering both tournaments.[1]

WARPIG described hot, dusty conditions at a remote desert site. Spectators could watch several fields from bleachers, while water trucks reduced dust around the staging areas.[1]

Ironmen teams

[edit]

Bob Long's Ironmen entered professional competition and finished third. WARPIG distinguished Long's new team from the original Ironmen organisation, whose members refereed rather than competed at this event.[1]
