1994 NPPL Los Angeles Open
The 1994 NPPL Los Angeles Open was a paintball tournament in California during the National Professional Paintball League (NPPL)'s second season. Advertised for June 1994, it was the third event in the league's five-tournament programme, following the D.C. Cup.[1][2]
The All Americans won the professional five-man competition.[3]
Programme
[edit]The NPPL's January announcement scheduled the Los Angeles Open for 22–26 June 1994. A season preview in the May issue of Action Pursuit Games repeated those dates.[1][2]
An NPPL advertisement published in Paintball News on 16 April instead listed 21–26 June.[4]
The advertised league programme allocated Wednesday and Thursday to five-man competition and Friday through Sunday to 10-man play. Professional and amateur teams were to advance into separate semi-final and final rounds.[1]
The Los Angeles tournament was followed on the published schedule by the Chicago Open, advertised for 24–28 August.[1][2]
Entry conditions and refereeing
[edit]The January league announcement advertised a bring-your-own-paint policy for all 1994 NPPL tournaments.[1]
The published entry fees were US$500 per five-man team, US$1,500 for amateur 10-man teams and US$2,000 for professional 10-man teams.[1]
The Ironmen and California Bushwackers were scheduled to provide the Los Angeles refereeing staff. Both the January league announcement and the May Action Pursuit Games preview identified these teams as the event's officials.[1][2]
The league announced a minimum of six judges on each 10-man field and four on each five-man field.[1]
Documented result
[edit]A retrospective history published in Paintball 2Xtremes records the All Americans as winners of the 1994 NPPL Los Angeles five-man competition.[3]
