2022 NXL World Cup
The 2022 NXL World Cup was a paintball tournament held in Kissimmee, Florida, United States, concluding the National Xball League (NXL) season. Announced for 10–13 November 2022, its revised match schedule ran from 11 to 13 November following disruption associated with Hurricane Nicole. San Diego Dynasty won the professional World Cup and season championship, while The Heroines won the Women's National Xball League (WNXL) tournament and inaugural season title.[1][2][3][4]
Dates and venue
[edit]The official event dates were 10–13 November 2022. The venue was listed as NXL World Cup, 6000 W Osceola Parkway, Kissimmee, Florida.[1]
Hurricane Nicole affected the event period. The surviving revised schedule begins on Friday, 11 November, rather than the originally advertised Thursday opening.[2][4]
Competition formats
[edit]The programme included professional, WNXL and divisional X-Ball; Division 3–5 and youth five-player competition; amateur 10-player competition; mechanical Mounds competitions; and three-player competition.[1]
Professional X-Ball used 15-minute matches with a six-point mercy rule. WNXL, semi-professional and Division 2 X-Ball used 15-minute matches with a five-point mercy rule. The registration record specified 12-minute RaceTo-4 games for Divisions 3 and 4, and 10-minute RaceTo-3 games for Division 5.[1]
Mechanical Mounds categories comprised Open five-player, seven-player and 10-player competitions, together with a separate seven-player Classic Cup. A Commander's Cup X-Ball competition was also included.[1]
Professional Champions Cup
[edit]The professional competition incorporated the new Champions Cup structure. San Diego Dynasty, Houston Heat, Edmonton Impact and European champions Toulouse TonTons received preliminary-round byes, while 20 other teams contested the opening stage.[4]
Dynasty defeated Tampa Bay Damage 7–1 in the final, securing its third consecutive NXL World Cup victory. Oliver Lang received the finals most valuable player award.[3][4]
WNXL competition
