The 2006 Paintball Asia League Series was a season of the international Paintball Asia League Series (PALS). Documented competitions included the 2006 International Thailand Paintball Championship and the inaugural 2006 Paintball World Cup Asia in Malaysia. Iran's Datis were reported as the overall PALS champions following their Division 1 victory at World Cup Asia.[1][2][3]

Background

[edit]

On 4 January 2006, PALS announced its participation in the United Paintball Federation. The announcement identified the Asia Pacific Paintball Federation as the continental organisation covering Asia and the Pacific, with PALS among its associated tournament series.[4]

The official Thailand championship programme scheduled preliminary competition for 26 August, followed by further preliminary matches, finals and the prize presentation on 27 August.[1]

Contemporary results published on PBNation recorded Datis as the Open division winners, ahead of Shocker, Infernal and Alien 11. Athena won the Amateur division, followed by Infinity, X Xtioneer and Combatzone 62.[2]

Paintball World Cup Asia

World Cup Asia took place at Xtion Paintball Park in Bukit Jalil, Kuala Lumpur, on 8–10 December. A contemporary report published on 19 December recorded approximately ninety participating teams.[3]

The report identified Xtion Paintball as the organiser, working with Malaysia's Ministry of Youth and Sports, Ministry of Information and Ministry of Tourism. It also named PALS, the Millennium Series, Paintball Sports Promotions and the United Paintball Federation as associated organisations.[3]

Datis won Division 1 and were also identified as the overall PALS champions.[3]
