2015 PSP Nashville Open

The 2015 PSP Nashville Open was a cancelled Paintball Sports Promotions (PSP) national paintball tournament scheduled for 1–3 May 2015 at Sharp Springs Natural Area in Smyrna, Tennessee, United States. It was intended to follow the 2015 PSP Dallas Open, but did not take place following the suspension of PSP's national season.[1][2][3]

Scheduled venue and programme

The published venue was Sharp Springs Natural Area, 1000 Espey Drive, Smyrna. Although named the Nashville Open, the tournament was scheduled to take place in Smyrna rather than Nashville itself.[1]

The registration programme listed professional Champions and Challengers RaceTo-7, Division 1 and Division 2 RaceTo-5, Division 3 and Division 4 RaceTo-4, five-player RaceTo-2 and open pump competition.[1]

Cancellation

On 1 May 2015, Paintball Media reported that PSP had apparently suspended its season, while the revived National Xball League announced a separate national tournament calendar.[2]

Boston Paintball subsequently confirmed that the Nashville event had not taken place. Its account described selecting and registering a team drawn from its Beast of the East programme, with players practising and arranging travel before the PSP event was abandoned.[3]

Separate MSXL event

A separate tournament, recorded as the MSXL/PSP Affiliate Last Dance, was held at Sharp Springs Natural Area on 2–3 May 2015. PBLeagues lists it under the Mid South X-Ball League rather than the PSP national series.[4]

That tournament had Division 2–4 X-Ball and Division 4–5 RaceTo-2 competitions, with published results. Those results belong to the MSXL event and are separate from the cancelled PSP Nashville Open.[4][5]
