The 2003 PSP Philadelphia Open, also called the Philly Open, was a paintball tournament held from 13 to 17 August 2003 at Fairmount Park in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States. It was the fourth event of the Paintball Sports Promotions (PSP) championship series and featured five-player, ten-player and divisional X-Ball competition alongside National Xball League (NXL) matches.[1][2]

Venue

[edit]

Playing fields and a trade show were established around Memorial Hall and its fountain. Three fields accommodated five-player and ten-player competition, while three others hosted divisional X-Ball and NXL matches. Surrounding streets were closed to traffic.[1]

Five-player competition

[edit]

Both divisions used eight-game preliminary rounds, followed by eight-team semi-finals and four-team finals. The following totals are final-round points.[3]

Division Position Team Final-round points
Novice 1 Doc's Raiders Black 294

3 Twisted Factory 122
4 Reflex 20
Rookie 1 Untouchable Kidz 214

  • Cross was listed second on the final scoreboard. After the competition, the team was found to have fielded a player who was not registered on its roster. WARPIG recorded that all of Cross's points were disqualified and would not count towards the series rankings.[3]

Doc's Raiders Black led the Novice preliminary round with 768 points and the semi-finals with 232. Untouchable Kidz recovered from losing its opening final-round game to win the remaining two games and the Rookie title.[3]
