The 2001 NPPL Gettysburg Open was the second tournament of the 2001 National Professional Paintball League season, held at the Allstar Sports Complex in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, in May 2001. Produced under Paintball Sports Promotions, with Smart Parts undertaking much of the organisation, it included five-man and ten-man competition.[1]

Avalanche won professional ten-man, Naughty Dogs won Amateur A, Team Worr won Amateur B and Eclipse won five-man.[2][3][4]

Venue and organisation

[edit]

The tournament relocated the Pennsylvania stop from Pittsburgh to Gettysburg. Soccer fields at the sports complex were converted into playing areas, with spectator netting, electrical supplies for inflatable fields and lighting for evening five-man games.[1]

Five-man scheduling difficulties extended preliminary play into Sunday. Additional inflatable bunkers supplied by TC Paintballs helped the organisers complete the competition.[1]

League organisation

[edit]

An NPPL meeting during the event established a steering committee with three representatives from each of the professional, Amateur A and Amateur B classifications. Registration also began collecting player information and photographs for the league's identification-card database, although printer problems prevented full implementation.[1]

Ten-man results

[edit]

Avalanche won the professional final with 208 points, ahead of Lockout, Aftershock and Rage.[2]

All tables show final-round scores. ClassicScores corroborates the placings.[2][4]
