1993 NPPL Reno Open
The 1993 NPPL Reno Open was a paintball tournament in the inaugural season of the National Professional Paintball League (NPPL), held at Northstar Resort in the Lake Tahoe area of California. The event included professional and amateur 10-man competition and a limited-paint five-man tournament.[1][2]
The All Americans won the professional 10-man division, Washington Reign won the amateur 10-man division, and Eat 'Em Alive won the five-man competition.[1][2]
Five-man competition
A contemporary report in Paintball News described a 16-team five-man competition involving teams from California, Nevada, Washington and Canada. It was played on wooded mountain terrain at approximately 7,000 feet above sea level, alongside the professional and amateur 10-man competition.[2]
Players were limited to 100 paintballs each per game. Games used a centre-flag format with a ten-minute time limit. Two preliminary divisions were followed by play between divisions, with the leading four teams advancing to the finals.[2]
Eat 'Em Alive won the final round ahead of Technicolor Assassins, Viper Venom and Viper Poison. The report identified Constant Pursuit and the California Black Diamonds as providing the refereeing staff.[2]
