2008 Paintball Direct Speedball End of Year Blowout was a five-player paintball tournament held on 27 December 2008 at Te Kiri Hall, near Ōpunake, Taranaki, New Zealand. It was organised by Steve Corkill of Paintball Direct NZ.[1]

Organisation and format

[edit]

The event was announced on 4 November 2008. The venue was Te Kiri Hall on Eltham Road, approximately 10 kilometres inland from Ōpunake. Field setup and practice were planned for Boxing Day, before the tournament on 27 December.[1]

Entry was NZ$15 per player, with field paint only. Advertised paint prices were NZ$70 per box for pro-grade, NZ$65 for tournament-grade and NZ$55 for field-grade paint. Compressed air and CO2 fills were available. A two-division competition was proposed, depending on entry numbers.[1]

The organiser offered camping and indoor sleeping space at the venue and stated that any profits would go to the Ōpunake Surf Life Saving Club.[1]

Registered teams

[edit]

The organiser published twelve registered teams on 22 December, with the post updated on 23 December. This was a registration list rather than a final classification.[1]

A participant’s message on 29 December thanked Corkill for the event, confirming that it had taken place.[1]
