History
[edit]Establishment
[edit]Hawkes Bay Paintball Club Incorporated was registered as a New Zealand incorporated society on 26 April 1995.
The organisation was registered under society number 642367, with its registered address at 240 Flaxmere Avenue, Hastings. [1]
The club was part of the organised paintball community that developed in New Zealand during the 1990s.
By the end of the decade, it was involved in organising tournaments that attracted players from Hawke's Bay and other North Island regions.
Hawkes Bay Triples
[edit]The club was a co-organiser of the Hawkes Bay Triples, an annual three-player tournament.
A surviving tournament announcement published by the New Zealand paintball team Mercenaries Star identifies Paintball Hawke's Bay and Hawke's Bay Paintball Club as the event's organisers. [2]
The competition attracted teams from throughout the lower North Island, including Wellington, Kāpiti, Taranaki, Manawatū, Taupō and Hawke's Bay.
The Mercenaries Star tournament calendar described the Hawkes Bay Triples as an established regional event on the New Zealand competitive paintball calendar. [3]
The same historical calendar reported that the competition had evolved from Fantasyland, an earlier recreational paintball event held in Hawke's Bay.

The participating teams were:

The competition demonstrated the regional nature of tournament paintball in New Zealand during the late 1990s.

The event was held at Paintball Hawke's Bay's Pines Paintball Field, located on State Highway 50 at Roys Hill, near Hastings.

Tournament facilities
[edit]Pines Paintball Field
[edit]The documented venue for the February 2000 Hawkes Bay Triples was Pines Paintball Field, operated by Paintball Hawke's Bay.
The field was located at Roys Hill on State Highway 50, near Hastings. [2]
The facility accommodated organised three-player tournament competition, with arrangements for field paintballs and privately supplied paintballs.
The event's limited-paint format allowed each player a maximum of 100 paintballs per game.
The surviving tournament announcement identifies the playing venue and its commercial operator but does not establish that Hawkes Bay Paintball Club Incorporated owned the field.
Dissolution
[edit]Hawkes Bay Paintball Club Incorporated was dissolved in 2000.
The dissolution was recorded in the New Zealand Gazette, issue 135, published on 28 September 2000.
The notice was issued under section 28(1) of the Incorporated Societies Act 1908.
The Registrar of Incorporated Societies listed Hawkes Bay Paintball Club Incorporated, society number 642367, among the organisations considered to have ceased carrying on their operations. [6]
Historical registration records give 9 October 2000 as the society's deletion date. [1]
The available records do not establish the reasons for the cessation of the club's activities beyond the statutory grounds recorded by the Registrar.
