2005 Hamilton 3x Series
2005 Hamilton 3x Series was a three-player tournament paintball competition held in Hamilton, New Zealand, during 2005. The series used a limited-paint format, with players permitted one loader and one additional pod of paintballs.[1]
The competition was announced in June 2005 as a three-event series intended to provide an affordable introduction to tournament paintball. The opening round took place on 10 July 2005 and attracted twelve teams.[1][2]
Running with Scissors won the opening round with 989 points, followed by Monkeys with 814 points and Karnage with 791 points.[2]
History
Establishment
The Hamilton 3x Series was announced on the NZ Paintball Message Boards on 1 June 2005.[1]
The organisers proposed three tournaments using a three-player format with a restricted paintball allowance.
The announcement described the competition as an opportunity for players to experience tournament paintball without the expense of larger events.
It also identified a newly established inflatable-bunker playing field for the competition.
The opening round was scheduled for 10 July 2005.
Later rounds were initially proposed for September and November, although a subsequent announcement listed 14 August and 9 October as revised dates.[1]
The available records do not establish the final dates or results of every proposed round.
Sponsorship
The original announcement identified the following supporters:
- Daytona Indoor Raceway
- Unit Networks
- Global Imports
Adrenilin Promotions was subsequently announced as an additional supporter on 7 June 2005.[1]
The organisers reported that more than NZ$400 in prizes had been arranged.

These points were distinct from the scores earned during the tournament itself.
Subsequent rounds
The original series announcement proposed two further tournaments.[1]
The archived forum index contains discussions titled Round 2, 3x Series, 3x Round 2 Results and Final Round 3x Series.[3]
These discussions establish that further competition activity was being organised and reported during 2005.
However, the complete contents of the later results discussions have not been recovered.
The final championship standings and overall series winner therefore remain unverified.
Competition format
The Hamilton 3x Series used three-player teams and a limited-paint allowance of one loader plus one additional pod per player.[1]
The competition was intended to reduce the cost of tournament participation.
The opening round included established tournament teams as well as newer entrants.
The post-event report specifically acknowledged Eyeon, Vegas Eclipse and Newbees as teams with players who had little or no previous tournament experience.[2]
Historical records
The principal surviving sources are contemporary announcements and results published on the NZ Paintball Message Boards.
The original June 2005 announcement documents the proposed three-event series, competition format and sponsors.[1]
The results post published on 10 July 2005 preserves complete opening-round scores and the first championship points table.[2]
Further tournament discussions were listed in the forum during September and October 2005, but their full results have not been recovered.[3]
A separate Hamilton 3s competition is documented during 2008 and 2009. The available sources do not establish whether that later competition was a direct continuation of the 2005 Hamilton 3x Series.
