Archie Montemayor

Archie Montemayor is an American professional paintball player whose career includes multiple spells with San Antonio X-Factor and San Diego Dynasty. He has won major professional tournaments with both teams, including the 2013 PSP World Cup with X-Factor and the 2022 NXL World Cup with Dynasty. He also co-founded Project Paintball with Ryan Brand.[1][2][3]

Playing career

Early professional career

Montemayor began playing professionally with San Antonio X-Factor in 2006. He joined San Diego Dynasty in 2009 before returning to X-Factor in 2011.[1]

He was part of X-Factor's victory at the 2013 PSP World Cup, where the team defeated Edmonton Impact 7-5 in the professional final. Contemporary reporting identified his eliminations during the final as a contribution to the team's win.[2]

European competition

Alongside his American tournament career, Montemayor competed in Europe with Breakout Spa. For the 2017 Millennium Series season, he joined Toulouse TonTons while continuing to represent X-Factor in the NXL.[4]

Further success with X-Factor

Montemayor played in X-Factor's victory over Russian Legion at the 2019 NXL Philadelphia Open. He subsequently discussed points from the final in an episode of the GoSports programme Tactics, which identified him as an NXL series champion and MVP award recipient.[5]

Return to Dynasty

Montemayor returned to Dynasty for the 2022 season.[1] During that season, he received the overall MVP award at the NXL Mid-Atlantic Major and helped Dynasty win the NXL series title.[6]

He was also included in Dynasty's official championship roster for the 2022 NXL World Cup.[3]

Return to X-Factor

Montemayor returned to San Antonio X-Factor for the 2025 season. The team's roster for the NXL Tampa Bay Open lists him as a checked-in player in the professional X-Ball division.[7]

Project Paintball

Montemayor and Ryan Brand established Project Paintball in early 2019. The business produces limited-edition paintball equipment, with an emphasis on distinctive designs and small production runs.[1]
