Punx was a New Zealand competitive paintball team documented in the Auckland Super 5s series during 2006 and 2007. The team finished fifth in Division Two of the 2006 Super 5s, won the opening Division Two round of the 2007 series and placed fourth in the amateur division at the 2007 Northland Open.[1][2][3]

Tournament history

2006

Punx competed in Division Two of the 2006 Super 5s. In the final round, reported on 4 December, the team scored 523 points and finished sixth in the combined round results. Punx ended the season fifth in Division Two with a published championship score of 3,430.[1]

2007

At the 2007 Northland Open on 4 February, Punx finished fourth in the amateur division. Eight teams competed across the professional and amateur divisions.[2]

Punx won Division Two in the opening round of the 2007 Super 5s on 25 February, scoring 558 points. The team scored 262 in the second round on 25 March, finishing eighth in the combined round table. The organiser's provisional Division Two totals then listed Punx on 820 points and noted that a decision was pending.[3][4]

Punx did not appear in the recovered April round results. The published cumulative table after that round instead listed the team on 558 points. Punx returned in the July round, scoring 419 and finishing sixth in the combined table, but the published cumulative total remained 558. The August cumulative table again recorded 558, although Punx did not appear in that round's result table.[5][6][7]

The recovered round scores and organiser's cumulative totals are preserved separately because the sources do not explain whether the differences resulted from adjustments, omissions or another scoring decision. They should not be combined into a replacement series total.

A roster post in the surviving 2007 series discussion included a Punx heading but listed no players beneath it. No complete roster has been recovered.[8]
