ADHD (paintball team)
ADHD was a New Zealand competitive paintball team based in Auckland. The team competed in X-Ball tournaments in New Zealand and internationally during the mid-2010s, representing the Auckland tournament paintball community at competitions including the South Auckland Paintball Club (SAPC) Race Series, the New Zealand Paintball Players League (NZPPL) and the 2014 Paintball World Cup Asia.
ADHD was associated with Asylum Paintball in Kingseat, south of Auckland. Its competitive record includes the 2014 SAPC Open X-Ball season championship, victory at the August 2014 NZPPL Pro X-Ball tournament and a Division 2 appearance at World Cup Asia in Malaysia.[1][2][3]
History
Formation and early competition
ADHD emerged in Auckland's competitive paintball community during the early 2010s. Its precise founding date has not been established, although the team was registered on PBLeagues on 15 January 2014.[1]
The team's PBLeagues profile lists Auckland as its hometown and Asylum Paintball as its home field.
Asylum operated at the former Kingseat Hospital complex in Kingseat, Karaka, and provided outdoor tournament facilities using inflatable bunkers. The venue hosted SAPC, NZPPL and independent competitive paintball events.
ADHD competed in Open X-Ball and Pro X-Ball competitions during 2014, establishing itself as one of the leading teams in Auckland's local tournament series.
2014 SAPC Race Series
ADHD competed in the four-event 2014 South Auckland Paintball Club Race Series, held at Asylum Paintball.
The team won every recorded Open X-Ball event during the season, finishing first at the February, May, July and September tournaments.[2]

The four victories gave ADHD the 2014 SAPC Open X-Ball championship with 400 ranking points.
Disposal Unit finished second in the season standings with 314.5 points, followed by Tempest with 229 points.
Other teams competing in the division included CamoMeat, Shattered, Mischief Militia and Low Gear.
The season standings were based on points awarded for tournament placings, rather than the number of individual points scored during matches.[2]
2014 NZPPL competition
ADHD also competed in the New Zealand Paintball Players League during 2014.
At the NZPPL Race 2-4 Event 2 tournament, held in Auckland on 30–31 August 2014, ADHD won the Pro X-Ball division.
The team finished first among six competitors, ahead of Trauma and The Wild Bunch.[3]
| Event position | Team |
|---|---|
| 1 | ADHD |
| 2 | Trauma |
| 3 | The Wild Bunch |
| 4 | Kamikaze Knights |
| 5 | Low Gear |
| 6 | Mischief Militia |
PBLeagues records ADHD as the top-ranked team in the 2014 NZPPL Pro X-Ball standings, with 100 ranking points from the Auckland event.[3]
The result added a national-level tournament victory to the team's four-event SAPC championship season.
2014 Paintball World Cup Asia
ADHD travelled to Malaysia to compete at the 2014 Paintball World Cup Asia, an international tournament held from 7–9 November 2014.
The event formed part of the Paintball Asia League Series (PALS) and attracted teams from across Asia and the wider international paintball community.
ADHD entered Division 2, competing against teams from Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore and other countries.
The team's PBLeagues record lists a final placing of 12th among 22 teams, with 50.5 ranking points.[1]
The event schedule also records ADHD competing in Division 2 matches, including a scheduled game against Waxers Legion on the opening day.[4]
The tournament represented a documented international appearance by an Auckland team that had competed predominantly in New Zealand during the preceding season.
2015 season
ADHD returned to domestic tournament competition in 2015, participating in the SAPC Race Series and independent Auckland events.
The team won the first SAPC Open X-Ball event of the season, held on 31 January–1 February, finishing first among eight participating teams.
Subsequent events produced more varied results, with ADHD finishing third in April, fourth in June and third in August.[1]

The tournament was held at Asylum Paintball and featured an Open X-Ball division.
ADHD finished sixth among seven teams, earning 25 ranking points.[1]
The event also attracted visiting Australian players and teams.
A report published by paintball equipment manufacturer DYE in April 2015 describes the Australian team Hard2Overcome's participation in the event. The report records Hard2Overcome defeating ADHD 4–0 during the tournament and notes that Australian players were guesting for ADHD.[6]
Asylum Paintball Cup
ADHD was registered in Open X-Ball at the Asylum Paintball Cup on 26–27 September 2015.
The team's PBLeagues event history records its participation without publishing a final placing.[1]
The tournament attracted both New Zealand and international competitors, including Australian teams.
2016 Auckland Paintball Cup
ADHD continued competing in 2016.
At the Auckland Paintball Cup, held on 16–17 April 2016, the team finished third among eight teams in Division 2 X-Ball.[1]
The recorded result awarded ADHD approximately 74.29 ranking points.
Other teams competing at the event included CamoMeat and Phoenix Tahiti, reflecting the participation of local and overseas competitors in Auckland tournament paintball.
The April 2016 Auckland Paintball Cup is the latest event presently listed on ADHD's surviving PBLeagues team record. The absence of subsequent entries does not establish when the team ceased competing.
Secondary teams
ADHD entered additional squads in South Auckland Paintball Club competitions.
The 2014 SAPC standings include ADHD BLACK, ADHD RED and ADHD White alongside the principal ADHD Open X-Ball entry.[2]
ADHD BLACK
ADHD BLACK competed in the Open X-Ball division at the May 2014 SAPC Race Series event.

The team finished third, recording 40 ranking points.[2]
The use of multiple entries allowed players associated with ADHD to participate in both electronic-marker X-Ball and mechanical pump divisions. The exact relationships between the squads and their individual rosters have not been established.

Home field
ADHD's registered home field was Asylum Paintball, located at the former Kingseat Hospital complex in Kingseat, Karaka, south of Auckland.[1]
The facility provided outdoor Sup'Air tournament fields and served as a venue for SAPC Race Series events, NZPPL tournaments and independent competitions.
Asylum's tournament facilities were used by Auckland-based teams for regular training and organised competitions throughout the 2010s.
Competition formats
ADHD competed in several forms of tournament paintball.
Open and Pro X-Ball
The principal ADHD team competed in Open X-Ball and Pro X-Ball divisions.
These formats used timed matches with multiple points, generally played on fields containing inflatable tournament bunkers.
ADHD's recorded tournament victories in 2014 were achieved in these formats.
Division 2 X-Ball
The team entered Division 2 at the 2014 World Cup Asia tournament in Malaysia and the 2016 Auckland Paintball Cup.
Division classifications were determined by the organisers of the respective competitions and should not be assumed to be directly equivalent between tournaments or countries.
Mechanical pump
The ADHD RED and ADHD White squads competed in mechanical pump competitions organised by South Auckland Paintball Club.
These events used pump-action paintball markers, creating a separate equipment category from the electronic-marker X-Ball competitions.
International competition
ADHD's documented international appearance took place at the 2014 Paintball World Cup Asia in Malaysia.
The tournament provided an opportunity for the team to compete against opponents outside the New Zealand domestic circuit.
ADHD placed 12th of 22 in Division 2, according to PBLeagues.[1]
The team's participation forms part of New Zealand's involvement in international paintball events in the Asia-Pacific region during the 2010s.
