The 2003 Volcanic Rotorua Paintball Tournament was held at Rotorua International Stadium over the Saturday and Sunday of the October long weekend in 2003. Eighteen teams competed, including three from Australia. Saints won the Cup, while Fusion won the Plate.[1][2]

Organisation

Paintball BOP's archived tournament history records that the business ran the event under the name 2003 V Comp Volcanic. The contemporary report by Rob Maddox identifies Peter Mumby as one of the organisers.[1][3]

The tournament moved from June, when the previous edition had taken place, to October. WDP supplied an Angel airball field and sponsored the event.[1]

Format

The tournament used Millennium Series rules under New Zealand Paintball Players Association guidelines. Matches took place on two airball fields.[1]

Teams began in two seeded pools. Their first-day scores determined progression into separate Cup and Plate competitions. Both competitions concluded with best-of-three finals.[1]
