The Iranian team finished third behind France's Toulouse TonTons and the American Ironmen, ahead of Australia's STK.[10]
Competition and development in the 2020s
Later international competition
At the third round of the Iranian national league in 1403, held in Mashhad from 3 to 6 Mehr 1403 (24–27 September 2024), Datis Tehran won the men's premier division ahead of Spad Mashhad and Amertat Mashhad. Datis veterans won the second division. The women's Datis team also won its competition at the same round.[6]

Datis remained active in Asian tournament paintball during subsequent seasons.
A recruitment announcement published in August 2025 sought players for Datis Tehran, Datis Shemiranat and the women's team. It scheduled an online theory assessment followed by practical trials at the Sang Ahan Bafq paintball academy in Yazd Province. Parham Nazari was named as the contact for the trials.[7]

At the 2013 NAZA World Cup Asia in Langkawi, Datis reached the Division 1 semi-finals, losing 1–0 to eventual champions Johannesburg Dynamix.
A Persia Paintball post published on 4 November 2025 identified Datis Tehran as the winner of the second national league round of 1404 in Mashhad.[23]

The team finished third overall, behind Dynamix and Raskal Malaysia, and ahead of Xtioneers.[11]
The team's public posts continued to document players and training during 2026. A September post described Taha Hosseini, number 23, as an academy-developed player gaining experience alongside the first team. Other posts identified Parham Nazari as number 2 and Mohammad Kojouri as number 88.[24][25][26]

Datis finished third again at the 2014 World Cup Asia, while recording seventh place at the opening PALS tournament in Bangkok.
In an October 2026 post, the organisation identified Parvaz club as a venue where Datis trained.[27]

The team was fourth in the overall 2014 PALS Division 1 season standings.[12]
A November 2026 profile described former player Hamed Ashouri, number 17, as continuing to work with Datis as an analyst.[28]

At the 2015 World Cup Asia, Datis finished ninth among sixteen Division 1 teams.[13]
Players
Although PBLeagues identifies Datis as a United Arab Emirates entry in its records from this period, earlier contemporary reporting consistently identifies the organisation as Iranian. The reason for the different country designation has not been established.[13]
Archived 2007 player list
Continued Iranian competition
The team's main player page, archived on 30 April 2007, listed the following players. Names, positions and numbers reproduce the descriptions on that page rather than an event-specific roster.[10]

Datis continued participating in domestic Iranian paintball competition after its international World Cup Asia appearances.

The organisation's 2026 player profiles identify Parham Nazari, Mohammad Kojouri and Taha Hosseini. Its profile of Hamed Ashouri identifies his subsequent role as an analyst.[24][25][26][28]

The available records do not establish the organisation's complete subsequent tournament history.
Associated teams
Notable players and personnel
Contemporary reporting describes Datis as an organisation with several teams. Planet Eclipse's February 2012 report explicitly associated Diako with Datis and identified Datis Girls as its women's team.[5]

Documented members of Datis include:
Datis Girls competed in World Cup Asia Division 3 in 2012 and 2013. Later organisational posts use the name Datis Ladies for the women's squad.[29][30]

* Babak Datis Esmaily – Team captain during the 2011 World Cup Asia championship. Also identified in earlier sources as Babak Ismaili.[9]
The 2017 PALM report separately identified Tehran Datis and Shemiranat Datis in different divisions. The 2025 recruitment notice continued to distinguish the Tehran, Shemiranat and women's squads.[7][22]
* Aco Amir – Iranian professional player who represented Datis in domestic and international competition, including during the 2009–2010 period.[3]
* Reza Badrian – Early team member identified by Aco Amir as one of the players involved in the team's formation and development.[3]

Sponsorship
Sponsorship
Datis maintained an equipment sponsorship relationship with Planet Eclipse during several periods of its competitive history.
The archived Datis website identified Behrooz Food Industries and DYE as sponsors in its account of the 2006 PALS championship.[31]

The team was identified as an Eclipse-sponsored organisation in November 2008.
Datis was identified as Planet Eclipse sponsored in a November 2008 report. In his March 2010 interview, Aco Amir also named DYE and JT as equipment supporters.[2][9]

In March 2010, Aco Amir reported that Datis also received equipment support from DYE Precision and JT USA, including paintball loaders, protective equipment and accessories.[2][3]
In 2017, Planet Eclipse reported that the organisation had received custom Datis CS1.5 markers through One4One Paintball.[22]

Planet Eclipse continued supporting the organisation during 2017, supplying custom Datis CS1.5 electronic paintball markers through One4One Paintball.[14]

Datis, also known as Team Datis or Datis Paintball, is an Iranian tournament paintball organisation associated with Tehran. Its first team won Division 1 at Paintball World Cup Asia in 2006, 2010 and 2011, and the overall Paintball Asia League Series (PALS) championship in 2006, 2007 and 2010.[1][2][3][4]

The organisation has fielded Tehran, Shemiranat, veterans and women's teams. Its women's team is documented under the names Datis Girls and Datis Ladies. National league results and the organisation's own publications document continued activity during the 2020s.[5][6][7]

History

[edit]

Early development

[edit]

An archived team index from December 2010 describes Datis as "Since 2004".[8]

In a March 2010 interview originally published by ProPaintball.com, Aco Amir identified Babak Esmaeily and Reza Badrian as teammates involved in creating Datis. He described having played with the team for six years.[9]

The historical team website published player profiles, competition reports, photographs and links to a discussion forum and Yahoo group.[10][11]

Asian championships, 2006–2007

[edit]

At World Cup Asia in Kuala Lumpur in December 2006, Datis won Division 1 and the overall PALS season championship.[1]

Datis retained the overall PALS title in 2007. At that year's World Cup Asia, it finished second in Division 1 behind South Africa's Reaper.[2]

Competition in 2009–2010

[edit]

In March 2009, Datis finished second behind the American Ironmen at the Golden Palm tournament at Kish Olympic Stadium, Iran. Mehr News Agency reported nine foreign and twenty Iranian teams at the event.[12]

In July, Datis finished third at the Asian Paintball Invitational Tournament in Taiwan, behind Germany's Ramstein Instinct and Australia's SWAT.[13]

The March 2010 ProPaintball.com interview reported that Datis had won all four events of the preceding Iranian league season, defeating Persian Legend at the final tournament.[9]

At World Cup Asia in November 2010, Datis won Division 1 ahead of France's Bad Elements, Australia's STK and Malaysia's MacDev Ronin. The team also secured the overall 2010 PALS championship.[3][14]

World Cup Asia 2011

[edit]

Datis successfully defended its World Cup Asia Division 1 title in Langkawi in November 2011.

A contemporary Bernama report identified Babak Datis Esmaily as the team's leader. Datis defeated Malaysia's Demon 4–0 in the quarter-final and Australia's STK 3–2 in the semi-final before beating Reaper 4–1 in the final. The team received US$50,000 and the championship trophy.[4]

Datis also finished third in the accompanying Intercontinental Cup, behind France's Toulouse TonTons and the American Ironmen.[15]

Iranian national competition

[edit]

The Iran Paintball Association's results for the Babolsar event of 14–16 December 2011 placed Datis first in the men's first division, followed by Hype and Persian Legend Two.[16]

The team's archived February 2012 news identified Datis as the overall INPL champion for the Iranian calendar year 1390 and named Hype as its opponent in the final.[17]

Planet Eclipse independently reported the championship on 27 February 2012. Its account also recorded Diako winning Division 2 and securing promotion, while Datis Girls won the women's cup and the women's 1390 title.[5]

An association report preserved in November 2014 described a seven-round premier league involving eight teams. It named Datis as champion, followed by Ariaman and Griffin.[18]

Later international results

[edit]

Datis finished third in Division 1 at the 2013 NAZA World Cup Asia, behind Johannesburg Dynamix and Raskal Malaysia.[19]

PBLeagues records another third-place World Cup Asia finish in 2014 and fourth place in the overall PALS Division 1 standings that year.[20][21]

The database records Datis finishing ninth of sixteen Division 1 teams at World Cup Asia in 2015 and second of eleven in 2016. It also records third place in Open X-Ball at the Melaka International XBall Cup in April 2018.[20]

PALM competition

[edit]

On 8 October 2017, Planet Eclipse reported that Tehran Datis had won Division 1 at the penultimate Iranian PALM event. Shemiranat Datis finished second in Division 2 at the same event.[22]

The report described both teams as being in contention for their respective season titles; it preceded the final round and did not establish the final season standings.[22]

Competition and development in the 2020s

[edit]

At the third round of the Iranian national league in 1403, held in Mashhad from 3 to 6 Mehr 1403 (24–27 September 2024), Datis Tehran won the men's premier division ahead of Spad Mashhad and Amertat Mashhad. Datis veterans won the second division. The women's Datis team also won its competition at the same round.[6]

A Persia Paintball post published on 4 November 2025 identified Datis Tehran as the winner of the second national league round of 1404 in Mashhad.[23]

The team's public posts continued to document players and training during 2026. A September post described Taha Hosseini, number 23, as an academy-developed player gaining experience alongside the first team. Other posts identified Parham Nazari as number 2 and Mohammad Kojouri as number 88.[24][25][26]

In an October 2026 post, the organisation identified Parvaz club as a venue where Datis trained.[27]

A November 2026 profile described former player Hamed Ashouri, number 17, as continuing to work with Datis as an analyst.[28]

Players

[edit]

Archived 2007 player list

[edit]

The team's main player page, archived on 30 April 2007, listed the following players. Names, positions and numbers reproduce the descriptions on that page rather than an event-specific roster.[10]

Player Listed position Number
Amirhossein Dousthaghighi Front 777
Reza Badrian Front 03
Babak Esmaeily Back; captain 1
Aco Amir Sh.E Middle 69
Shahin Tabary Back 10

Later personnel

[edit]

The organisation's 2026 player profiles identify Parham Nazari, Mohammad Kojouri and Taha Hosseini. Its profile of Hamed Ashouri identifies his subsequent role as an analyst.[24][25][26][28]

Associated teams

[edit]

Contemporary reporting describes Datis as an organisation with several teams. Planet Eclipse's February 2012 report explicitly associated Diako with Datis and identified Datis Girls as its women's team.[5]

Datis Girls competed in World Cup Asia Division 3 in 2012 and 2013. Later organisational posts use the name Datis Ladies for the women's squad.[29][30]

The 2017 PALM report separately identified Tehran Datis and Shemiranat Datis in different divisions. The 2025 recruitment notice continued to distinguish the Tehran, Shemiranat and women's squads.[7][22]

Sponsorship

[edit]

The archived Datis website identified Behrooz Food Industries and DYE as sponsors in its account of the 2006 PALS championship.[31]

Datis was identified as Planet Eclipse sponsored in a November 2008 report. In his March 2010 interview, Aco Amir also named DYE and JT as equipment supporters.[2][9]

In 2017, Planet Eclipse reported that the organisation had received custom Datis CS1.5 markers through One4One Paintball.[22]
