2007 Northland Open
2007 Northland Open was a five-player paintball tournament held on 4 February 2007 at A Paintball Adventure, 80B Hunua Road, Papakura, Auckland, New Zealand. The event was an edition of the established Northland Open tournament, although it took place outside the Northland region.[1][2]
Eight teams competed across Professional and Amateur divisions. Menace won the Professional division, while Sinista won the Amateur division.[2]
Organisation
The tournament was announced on the NZ Paintball Message Boards on 7 January 2007.[1]
The organisers advertised a five-player competition using a round-robin format followed by finals.
The published arrangements included:

The tournament announcement identified Matt Storey as an organiser and contact.[1]
The event advertised the Northland Open trophy for first place, the Raven Cup for second place, medals for third place, and individual awards.
Tournament results
The final divisional placings were published on 5 February 2007, the day after the tournament.[2]
Professional division
| Position | Team |
|---|---|
| 1 | Menace |
| 2 | XXX |
| 3 | Legion |
| 4 | Foundation |
Menace finished first, followed by XXX, Legion and Foundation.[2]
Amateur division
| Position | Team |
|---|---|
| 1 | Sinista |
| 2 | Nemisis |

| 4 | Punx |
Sinista won the Amateur division.
The original results report listed the second-place team as Nemisis / Cut-throats. Earlier tournament announcements document the adoption of the name Nemisis by players previously associated with Cut-throats.[1][2]
Participation
The results report recorded eight competing teams.[2]
The relatively small field was noted in contemporary discussion, with another tournament, the Hawke's Bay Triples, taking place over the same weekend.
However, the surviving accounts do not establish whether the scheduling conflict directly affected participation.
Historical records
The principal surviving sources are the original tournament announcement and the results published on the NZ Paintball Message Boards.
The announcement preserves the event's date, venue, competition format, entry fees and intended prizes.[1]
The results report establishes the final placings in both divisions.[2]
Individual match scores and complete player rosters have not been recovered.
This edition is notable within the documented history of the Northland Open because it took place at an indoor facility in Papakura rather than at a venue in Northland.
