2005 Auckland Queen’s Birthday Superball, also advertised as QBW Superball, was a seven-player paintball tournament held on 4–5 June 2005 at Kumeu Showgrounds, Auckland. It formed part of the New Zealand Paintball Players Association tournament programme and featured New Zealand and Australian teams.[1][2][3]

Organisation

[edit]

The tournament used an unlimited-paint format, with field paint only. Advertised entry was NZ$500 per team, with PMI Premium paint supplied at NZ$85 per case. The field was available for inspection on the preceding Friday afternoon.[1]

Participants reported wet weather and muddy conditions. A contemporary account described play on an inflatable-bunker field and compressed-air fills of up to 4,500 psi.[4]

Results

[edit]

The contemporary results discussion listed fourteen teams across Cup and Plate classifications. Its initial post placed Sydney SWAT first and Sydney Shock second; a subsequent reply corrected the winner to Sydney Shock. A separate participant discussion also congratulated Sydney Shock on winning. The reported order of the leading two teams is therefore shown as disputed.[3][4]
