=== Professional participation and layout ===

Thirteen teams entered the professional division. Unlike the [[2021 NXL Golden State Open]], whose highest category was Open X-Ball, the 2022 event used a professional classification.[1]

The event used a blind field layout. Contemporary NXL coverage described the Open events and their blind layouts as an additional element of the 2022 professional season. Professional matches were broadcast through GoSports.com.[4]
