== Playing career == Gatland's profile records approximately three and a half years of involvement in paintball at the time of the interview. He recalled discovering the sport after attending a game as a spectator.[1] The profile identifies him as Kamo Karzi captain. A separate profile of teammate [[Paul McKay|Paul “Spider” McKay]] refers to the team's captain as “Alan” when recounting a flag hang at Splatman 97.[1][2] Kamo Karzi's contemporary website records the team's Division Two victory in the 1997 [[National Paintball League (New Zealand)|National Paintball League]] and its third-place overall finish at the 1997 Auckland Nationals.[3]
