Vasiliy Panteleev

From WikiPaintball

Vasiliy Panteleev, also written as Vasily Panteleev, is a Russian professional paintball player associated with Russian Legion and Art Chaos Moscow. He won the professional World Cup with Russian Legion in 2006, 2009 and 2010, during the team's period competing as Boston Red Legion. [1][2][3][4]

Early career

[edit]

Panteleev joined Russian Legion after seeing a recruitment announcement while studying at an academy of physical culture and sport. In a 2014 interview with Sovetsky Sport, he recalled that he had no previous paintball experience and had never fired a marker before trying out. His existing sporting background provided his initial preparation for joining the team. [1]

Professional career

[edit]

Russian Legion

[edit]

Panteleev was part of Boston Red Legion's roster at the 2006 World Cup, where the team won the professional X-Ball competition. He later identified that victory, together with the team's 2009 and 2010 World Cup titles, among his achievements with Russian Legion. [1][2]

Official tournament records confirm his participation in the winning Boston Red Legion rosters at both the 2009 and 2010 World Cups. His teammates during this period included Alexander Berdnikov, Mikhail Knyazev, Kirill Prikhidni, Justin Rabackoff and Sergey Solnyshkov. [3][4]

Panteleev remained with Russian Legion during its roster changes ahead of the 2012 season. In an open letter published that February, general director Alexander Tarando identified him as one of the experienced players retained within a squad containing several younger players. The team's official 2012 PSP roster listed him wearing number 12. [5][6]

Art Chaos Moscow

[edit]

By August 2013, Panteleev was also listed on Art Chaos Moscow's European roster. The team competed in the Millennium Series, while Russian Legion competed in PSP events in the United States. [7]

Art Chaos included Panteleev in its January 2014 roster announcement as the organisation prepared to compete in both Europe and the United States. Maxim Preobrazhenskiy was named as the team's coach. [8]

Later Russian Legion career

[edit]

Panteleev subsequently returned to competition with Russian Legion. He was a checked-in player on Moscow Red Legion's roster at the 2019 NXL Texas Open, where the team defeated ac Dallas 6-1 in the professional final. [9]

He continued to represent Moscow Red Legion at the 2021 NXL World Cup, appearing on its tournament roster alongside players including Berdnikov, Solnyshkov and Leonid Smotrov. [10]

Approach to the game

[edit]

In his 2014 interview, Panteleev emphasised movement, tactical judgement and decision-making as important distinctions between professional players. He argued that, at the highest level, where shooting ability was relatively similar, successful decisions and positioning could be more decisive than accuracy alone. [1]
