SplatMe
SplatMe (also catalogued as Splat Me) was an Australian paintball magazine published in Queensland during the early 1990s. It was one of the earliest specialist paintball magazines produced in Australia and preceded the launch of Australian Paintballer.
Publication history
[edit]A bibliographic guide to international paintball publications records that Splat Me began with issue number 0 in September 1990. The guide lists five issues, with the final issue appearing in July 1991, and describes the magazine as having a glossy cover.[1]
The Australian Paint archive identifies SplatMe as a Queensland publication and states that at least four issues were known to have been produced.[2] Its collection contains digitised copies of issues 2, 3 and 4.[3] Issue 2 was dated January–February 1991.[2]
The difference between the archive's statement of “at least four” issues and the five issues listed in the bibliographic guide can be explained by the recorded numbering beginning with issue 0. However, a complete surviving run has not been identified in the available online archive.

Historical context
[edit]SplatMe documents the emergence of specialist paintball publishing in Australia at the beginning of the 1990s. Its publication predates Australian Paintballer, whose first issue appeared in 1992. No organisational relationship between the two magazines has been established.
Details concerning SplatMe's publisher, editorial staff, circulation and distribution have not been confirmed in the presently available sources.
