Playing career
[edit]Opherden was a member of the Malaysian tournament team MacDev Ronin. A contemporary Rock'n'Rolla team page identified him as a MacDev Ronin player while recording his appointment as the team's coach in 2009.[1]
A December 2010 account written by MacDev Ronin player Alan "Ace" Lian included Shamsher among the members thanked for the team's season. During 2010, Ronin won the second event of the Malaysian Paintball Official Circuit, finished second at the season finale and placed fourth in Division 1 at Paintball World Cup Asia.[4]
The team was also recognised as the highest-placed Malaysian entry in World Cup Asia's Division 1.[4] The surviving account identifies Opherden as part of the Ronin team during the season but does not provide a match-by-match roster.
Coaching
[edit]Opherden coached Rock'n'Rolla during the team's preparations for World Cup Asia 2009.[1]
In October 2009, he attended the presentation of Azodin Kaos markers supplied to Rock'n'Rolla for its Division 4 World Cup Asia campaign. The team's report identified him as its coach and as a member of MacDev Ronin.[2]
Rock'n'Rolla subsequently finished fifth among 19 Division 4 teams at World Cup Asia 2009. Its post-event account credited Opherden, under the name Terry, for his coaching during the competition.[3]
Rock'n'Rolla continued to train with MacDev Ronin during the 2010 Malaysian Paintball Official Circuit season. The team finished third at the opening event and second at the second event of the season.[5] Available reports do not specify Opherden's role at each 2010 event.
Ramped magazine
[edit]Opherden was associated with the launch of Ramped, a Malaysian paintball lifestyle magazine announced in December 2010.
The launch material listed Shamsher "Terry" Opherden and Amber Wong as contacts for the publication and provided Opherden with an address using the magazine's domain.[6] The announcement did not state his editorial title, so his precise responsibilities within the publication have not been established.
A later partnership announcement identified Wong as editor-in-chief but did not give Opherden a title.[7]
Identity and contemporary records
[edit]Rock'n'Rolla's November 2009 acknowledgement explicitly identified “Shamsher Opherden, aka Terry”, establishing that the two names refer to the same person.[3]
Other Malaysian tournament reports refer to players called only “Terry”. Without a surname or team record securely connecting those appearances to Opherden, they should not be included in his playing history.
