PJ Mayor’s Cup
PJ Mayor's Cup was a Malaysian tournament paintball competition held at the Malaysian Paintball Academy in Petaling Jaya, Selangor. The confirmed 2007 edition formed part of events marking the first anniversary of Petaling Jaya receiving city status and the Petaling Jaya City Council sports month. [1]
The competition was associated with the feeder-event programme of the Malaysian National Paintball League (MY-NPL). Nemesis won the Open category in 2007, while Wolverinez Sinar FM won the Novice category and Ocean 18 won the locally restricted category. [2][3]
A second edition was announced for 5–6 July 2008, but the available sources do not establish whether that event took place. [4]

Background
[edit]The PJ Mayor's Cup was staged within Petaling Jaya's developing tournament paintball programme.
A contemporary description of Malaysian competition formats identified the Mayor's Cup and Pahang Open as feeder tournaments associated with MY-NPL. The same account described the feeder events as using the five-player format. [3]
The 2007 Mayor's Cup was held at the Malaysian Paintball Academy in Kompleks Sukan Astaka, Petaling Jaya. The announcement stated that it formed part of celebrations for the first anniversary of Petaling Jaya's city status and the sports month organised by the Petaling Jaya City Council. [1]
The published registration deadline was 25 June 2007. Field layouts for two playing fields were also issued before the competition. [1]
2007 tournament
[edit]The 2007 competition used Open, Novice and “Close” categories. The surviving results record uses the term “Close”; whether this was intended to mean a Petaling Jaya closed division is not established by the available source. [2]
Nemesis won the Open category ahead of Delta Rovers and MBPJ Rovers.
Wolverinez Sinar FM won the Novice category, followed by Raiders and Screaming Eagle.
Ocean 18 won the Close category ahead of Interactive-X and Section 20 PJ Selatan. [2]

Proposed 2008 edition
[edit]A MY-NPL results announcement published on 3 June 2008 listed the PJ Mayor's Cup 2008 as the next competition after the league's third event.
The Mayor's Cup was scheduled for 5–6 July 2008 at MAPAAC in Petaling Jaya. [4]
No separate announcement, completion report or results for the proposed 2008 edition have been identified. The published schedule therefore does not independently establish that the competition took place.
