Malaysia Woodsball League
Malaysia Woodsball League (MWL), also presented as MWL 7.3, is a Malaysian woodsball paintball tournament series and competition format. Its organiser documented introductory events in 2011 and league rounds in 2012, including Open and Tactical competition.[1][2][3][4]
History
[edit]Introduction in 2011
[edit]The organiser described the Command & Conquer event held in Langkawi during Paintball World Cup Asia in November 2011 as MWL's unofficial launch. The event included a demonstration of the format and a tournament won by Raskal Avengers, with Unknown finishing second.[1]
The organiser also recorded a Malaysia Woodsball Fest at Paintball Valley on 18 December 2011.[1]
2012 competition
[edit]The first 2012 league round was held in Putrajaya on 25–26 February. Subsequent rounds took place at Pantai Penunjuk in Kijal, Terengganu, during March and at Paintball Valley in Selangor on 7–8 July.[1][3][5]
The organiser's results named Unknown as Open winner and Unknown 2 as Tactical winner at both the Kijal and Paintball Valley rounds.[3][4]
Roslim Abu was identified as the MWL organiser in a closing acknowledgement published after the July event.[6]
Format
[edit]The published version 7.3 rules specified ten-minute games, ten players per team and a tournament roster of up to thirteen players, including three reserves.[2]
Scoring used electronic buzzers and timers. Teams earned points by controlling a timed centre station, activating the opposing team's base buzzer and having players remaining at the end of the game. Activating the opposing base buzzer ended the game.[2]
The organiser described Open, Tactical and Milsim as distinct categories with different playing requirements. In March 2012, it announced that Milsim competition would require a separate event rather than running concurrently with the other categories.[1]
