Malaysia Paintball League

From WikiPaintball

The Malaysia Paintball League (MPL) is a Malaysian tournament paintball competition organised as a multi-round seasonal league. The competition has documented seasons in 2025 and 2026, featuring separate divisions for experienced and amateur teams.[1][2]

The league has held events at venues in Selangor and Pahang, including Nemesis Legion Paintball Academy, Sri Awana Paintball Park and Padang FA Jerantut. Its competition programme includes X-Ball-style matches and annual divisional championships.[1][3][4]

In 2025, Nemesis Legion won the Open Division season championship, while Unknown X won the Amateur Division championship.[5]

History

[edit]

2025 season

[edit]

The earliest confirmed season under the Malaysia Paintball League name is 2025. A precise founding date has not been independently established.

The opening round was scheduled for 4–5 January 2025 at Nemesis Legion Paintball Academy in Selangor.[1]

The second round followed on 22–23 February at Sri Awana Paintball Park in Selangor.

The third round took place on 13–14 September at the same venue, before the season concluded on 1–2 November at Nemesis Legion Paintball Academy.[2][3][6]

The 2025 competition featured two principal divisions:

  • Open Division – Competition using a race-to-four format with 10-minute game time.
  • Amateur Division – Competition open to Division 2, Division 3 and Division 4 teams, using a race-to-three format with eight-minute game time.

The published entry limit was eight teams in the Open Division and 12 teams in the Amateur Division.[1]

Following the conclusion of the season, the league announced the overall champions:

Division 2025 season champion
Open Nemesis Legion (NL Draco Paintball Club)
Amateur Unknown X

The championships were formally recognised at an appreciation event held on 24 January 2026.[5]

The organisers also announced individual most valuable player awards, recognising Khubaib Shukri in the Open Division and Aiman Afandi in the Amateur Division.[5]

2026 season

[edit]

The Malaysia Paintball League continued with a four-round programme in 2026.

The organisers announced the season in January 2026, with the opening round originally scheduled for 11–12 April.[5]

Subsequent announcements documented changes to the competition calendar and additional tournament venues.

The second round was promoted for 25–26 July at Padang Timur in Petaling Jaya, Selangor.[7]

The third round was held on 19–20 September at Padang FA Jerantut in Pahang.[4]

In August 2026, Paintball Media Magazine listed the fourth round for 7–8 November in the Klang Valley region.[8]

The league's 2026 programme continued to include competitions for experienced players and developing teams.

Competition format

[edit]

The Malaysia Paintball League uses a multi-event championship structure, with teams competing in individual rounds and accumulating results across the season.

During the 2025 season, the league offered Open and Amateur divisions with different match formats.[1]

The Open Division used a race-to-four format with a 10-minute game clock.

The Amateur Division used a race-to-three format with an eight-minute game clock.

Teams competed for individual event prizes and overall season recognition.

The league's organisers also introduced individual player awards, including most valuable player recognition, alongside the team championships.[5]

Organisation

[edit]

The Malaysia Paintball League is administered by an organising committee responsible for registration, event coordination and tournament operations.

Fifi Rahman has been publicly identified as a league contact for team registration and event enquiries.

Paintball Media Magazine also identified Mazlan Masood as a contact for the 2026 competition programme.[8]

The organisers acknowledged the involvement of the Malaysia Paintball Referee Organisation (MPRO) in officiating, alongside media and broadcasting contributors including AXMedia and Goro and Friends.[5]

Relationship to other Malaysian leagues

[edit]

The Malaysia Paintball League should be distinguished from earlier national competitions.

The Malaysian National Paintball League (MY-NPL) operated during the 2000s and 2010s and maintained its own multi-round championship and divisional structure.

The Malaysian Paintball Official Circuit (MPOC) was a separate competition established in 2004.[9]

Available sources do not establish a direct organisational succession between these historical competitions and the Malaysia Paintball League documented in 2025–2026.
