MacDev
MacDev is an Australian paintball equipment manufacturer specialising in electronic tournament paintball markers, compressed-air systems, barrels and accessories. The company is associated with several marker families, including the Cyborg, Droid, Clone, Drone, GT and Prime.[1][2]
MacDev has developed both ram-driven and spool-valve electronic markers. Its later product range includes the Cyborg X, GT2, GTX, Cyclone and revised Droid models.[1]
History
[edit]Early equipment development
[edit]MacDev developed paintball equipment in Australia, initially establishing a presence in the market for compressed-air regulation and marker components.
Its product development subsequently expanded into complete electronic tournament markers.
The company's early equipment included regulators and accessories intended for use with existing paintball marker platforms.[2]
Cyborg series
[edit]The Cyborg became one of MacDev's established electronic marker families.
The series used a stacked-tube, ram-driven operating system with electronically controlled pneumatic components.
Successive Cyborg models incorporated revisions to their bodies, regulators, electronics and internal mechanisms.
The family included the Cyborg RX, Cyborg 6 and later Cyborg X.
The Cyborg range represented MacDev's development of complete electronic markers for competitive paintball.[2][3]
Droid and Clone
[edit]MacDev also developed electronic spool-valve markers.
The Droid used a spool-valve operating system, distinguishing it from the ram-driven Cyborg.
The company subsequently developed the Clone family, which incorporated revised spool-valve mechanisms and electronic controls.
These designs expanded MacDev's product range beyond stacked-tube electronic markers.[2][3]
Drone and GT series
[edit]The Drone was developed as a separate electronic marker range.
MacDev also introduced the GT family, including the Clone GT and later GT-derived models.
The GT range incorporated successive revisions to the company's spool-valve operating systems.
Later products included the GT2 and GTX, both documented in the manufacturer's product catalogue.[1]
Prime and XDR
[edit]MacDev subsequently introduced the Prime marker family.
The Prime used an electronic spool-valve operating system and was marketed for tournament competition.
The company also developed the XDR, which offered alternative mechanical and electronic firing configurations.
These models formed part of MacDev's expansion into different price categories and playing formats.[2]
Later products
[edit]MacDev's later catalogue includes the Cyborg X, GT2, GTX, Droid and Cyclone.
The continued appearance of these products in the manufacturer's catalogue documents ongoing activity under the MacDev brand.[1]
