Karma (paintball team)
Karma (also known as Team Karma or Karma Paintball) is an international women's professional paintball team competing in the European Women's National Xball League (WNXL). The team is registered in Barcelona, Spain, but has recruited players from several European countries.[1][2]
Karma has competed in NXL Europe women's tournaments since 2022 and participated in the NXL World Cup in the United States in 2023. The team finished second in the WNXL Europe season standings in both 2025 and 2026.[1][3][4]
History
[edit]Early competition (2022–2023)
[edit]Karma was registered with PBLeagues on 1 August 2022. Its earliest documented NXL tournament appearance was at the 2022 European Championships in Dreux, France, where it finished second in the two-team women's division.[1]
The team became one of the original competitors in the European WNXL professional championship in 2023.
During its first full WNXL Europe season, Karma finished third at all three events: the Netherlands Invitational, British Invitational and European Championships. These results secured third place in the overall season standings, behind Drakaina and Belladonna.[5]
In November 2023, Karma travelled to the United States to compete in the NXL World Cup, finishing 11th among 12 teams in the women's professional division.[1]
Continued European competition (2024–2026)
[edit]Karma competed throughout the 2024 WNXL Europe season, finishing third at the Portugal Invitational and British Invitational before taking second place at the European Championships in Dreux.
The team finished third in the 2024 season standings with 282 points, behind Belladonna and Drakaina.[6]
In 2025, Karma finished second at the Portugal Invitational and third at both the Contenders Cup in the Czech Republic and the European Championships in France.
Its combined results placed it second in the European championship standings with 282 points, behind Belladonna.[3]
Karma repeated its second-place season finish in 2026. The team took second at the Czech Cup, third at the British Invitational and fourth at the European Championships.
Karma and Drakaina both accumulated 279 championship points, with Karma officially ranked second and Drakaina third.[4]
International roster
[edit]Although registered in Spain, Karma operates as a multinational team.
The team's own published information identifies players representing Spain, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Germany, Poland, Bulgaria and Hungary.[2]
Players have informally been referred to as the Karmazons in the team's communications.[2]
Dutch player Laura Kempers was among the team's early members. In a February 2024 interview with Veenendaal Totaal, Kempers confirmed that she had played for Karma since 2022 and discussed the logistical challenges of training with teammates living across Europe.[7]
Karma identified Warren Pitterson of Manchester Firm as its coach during preparations for the 2025 WNXL Europe season.[8]
