Ian MacDonald

From WikiPaintball

Ian MacDonald is a New Zealand paintball player documented as a longstanding member of Saints in a contemporary New Zealand Paintball profile preserved in February 1998. His profile records his involvement in stock-class play and advocacy for accessible competition.[1]

Playing career

[edit]

MacDonald recalled beginning paintball around 1984–1985, with his first game being a World Challenge Tag partners competition. By 1985, he was organising regular social games involving colleagues from his workplace's data-processing department.[1]

The archived profile identifies him as a longstanding Saints member, but does not establish when he joined or identify his squad.[1]

Stock-class paintball

[edit]

MacDonald described stock-class paintball as his preferred form of play. He recalled participating in an early Wellington stock-class tournament and identified helping to keep stock-class play active as a personal achievement.[1]

His preferred marker was the PMI-1. He favoured its low-technology approach and the emphasis it placed on player skill.[1]

Views

[edit]

MacDonald advocated keeping paintball affordable for new players and encouraging recreational participants to enter competitions. He also emphasised matching different levels of experience and equipment so that players could continue to enjoy the game.[1]
