Generation Kill (paintball team)
Generation Kill, also styled Team Generation Kill, was a Singaporean tournament paintball team formed in 2009. The team consisted principally of students from Singapore Polytechnic and competed in the Singapore Paintball Series and the Malaysian National Paintball League.[1]
Generation Kill won the Tertiary Division at the opening event of the 2011 Singapore Paintball Series and later placed second in Division 4 at the 2011 Malaysian National Paintball League finale.[2][3]
History
[edit]Formation
[edit]A contemporary Singapore paintball report stated that Generation Kill was formed in 2009 and was composed mainly of Singapore Polytechnic students.[1] No complete contemporary roster has been located.
2011 Singapore Paintball Series
[edit]Generation Kill represented Singapore Polytechnic in the Tertiary Division of the 2011 Singapore Paintball Series.
At the opening event, held at Jurong Central Park on 16 and 17 April, Generation Kill won the Tertiary Division. The event attracted 29 teams across four divisions.[2]
At the second event, the My Buona Vista Cup held at East Coast Park on 8 and 9 October, Generation Kill finished second to ReaPers of Republic Polytechnic. Ghost Kids and Pyro-X, both representing Singapore Polytechnic, placed third and fourth.[4]
The Tertiary Division was discontinued from the Singapore Paintball Series after the 2011 season. The organisers announced that tertiary-level teams would instead be served by an Inter-Tertiary Paintball Championship planned for 2012.[5]
Malaysian National Paintball League
[edit]Generation Kill competed in Division 4 of the 2011 Malaysian National Paintball League. A Singapore report stated that the team placed third at its first MY-NPL appearance.[1] The event at which that result occurred was not identified in the report, and the surviving published results do not provide enough information to assign it confidently to a particular round.
At the season finale at Dataran Pahlawan in Malacca, Generation Kill placed second to Godlike in Division 4. Rabaq Bravo placed third and Dragon Roses fourth.[3] The result was Generation Kill's second MY-NPL podium and was reported in both Malaysian and Singapore paintball coverage.[1][3]
Paintball World Cup Asia
[edit]Generation Kill was listed as a Singaporean Division 4 entrant for the 2012 Paintball World Cup Asia in Langkawi.[6] A final placing has not been established from the available record.
No verified competition results for the team after 2012 have been located.

Identity
[edit]Generation Kill should not be confused with Generation Hill, a separately recorded entry that placed third in Division 4 at the third event of the 2011 Malaysian National Paintball League.[7] No source has been found demonstrating a connection between the two names.
The parenthetical article title distinguishes the team from Generation Kill, the book and television miniseries, and from the American band of the same name.
