Field One Force
Field One Force is a high-end electronic paintball marker manufactured by Field One Paintball, an American equipment company established by members of San Diego Dynasty and team manager Eric Crandall. Introduced in 2019, the Force was the company's first original marker platform following its acquisition of assets and designs from Bob Long Technologies in 2016.[1][2]
The marker uses an electronically controlled spool-valve system and was developed with input from Dynasty's professional players. An updated version, the Force V2, was introduced in 2023.[3][4]
History
[edit]Development and introduction
[edit]Field One Paintball was established in late 2016 by Dynasty members Ryan Greenspan, Alex Fraige and Yosh Rau, together with Eric Crandall. The company acquired intellectual property, designs and equipment associated with Bob Long, whose markers had been used extensively in professional tournament competition.[1]
The Force was developed as the company's first original electronic marker, incorporating selected features from earlier Bob Long products alongside a new pneumatic operating system.
Development involved testing by San Diego Dynasty, with Yosh Rau participating in the engineering and refinement of the marker.
A preview published by Paintball Ruined My Life on 1 July 2019 documented the upcoming Force and its relationship to earlier Bob Long designs.[2]
The marker entered the market during 2019, with a detailed independent review published in February 2020.[3]
Professional tournament use
[edit]The Force became the principal competition marker used by San Diego Dynasty in the National Xball League (NXL).
Dynasty used the Force platform during its four consecutive NXL World Cup professional championships from 2020 through 2023.
The 2023 victory came against Edmonton Impact, with Dynasty winning the final 3–2. The championship marked the team's fourth consecutive World Cup victory.[5]
Design and technology
[edit]The Force is an electronically controlled, pneumatically operated marker using a spool-valve firing system.
Its principal features include:
- Nucleus engine: A low-pressure spool-valve operating system developed for the Force, incorporating a pneumatic bolt assembly and specialised seals.
- Electronic firing controls: A programmable electronic circuit board with an OLED display.
- 4-C eye system: Electronic paintball detection designed to prevent the marker firing before a paintball is properly positioned in the breech.
- Adjustable foregrip: A foregrip offering alternative mounting positions.
- Power options: Support for two AA batteries or an optional rechargeable lithium-polymer battery.
- Cam Drive ASA: An air-system attachment incorporating an on/off mechanism.
- AccuLock barrel system: A barrel incorporating interchangeable bore inserts.
The marker retained several elements associated with earlier Bob Long platforms, including aspects of the grip frame, feedneck and air-system attachment.[3][6]
Force V2
[edit]The Field One Force V2 was publicly announced in November 2023, ahead of the NXL World Cup. The updated version became more widely available during 2024.[4]
The V2 retained the original Force operating platform while introducing revised external and internal components.
According to Field One Paintball, the principal changes included:
- A redesigned body, back cap, eye covers and foregrip, reducing overall weight by approximately 5%.
- Revised Nucleus engine bolt components intended to simplify disassembly.
- A redesigned pillow-tip insert incorporating a more durable polymer material and stainless-steel retaining screw.
- Changes to the Nucleus volume chamber, shut-off assembly and ram.
- An updated Rhino high-pressure regulator.
- A revised air-system attachment seal.
Field One stated that the updated internal components were backwards-compatible with the original Force, allowing existing owners to install V2 parts without replacing the complete marker.[7]
Special editions
[edit]Field One has offered customised Force markers featuring alternative body milling, anodising and player-specific designs.
The Dynasty Signature Series includes versions associated with individual San Diego Dynasty players, including Ryan Greenspan, Alex Fraige and Yosh Rau.
In 2024, Field One introduced the Dragon Force, a limited-production V2 variant featuring distinctive body milling. The manufacturer announced a production limit of 200 Dragon Force V2 markers.[8]
