Decay of Nations 18

From WikiPaintball

Decay of Nations 18, also known as Decay of Nations XVIII, was the eighteenth edition of the American scenario paintball event Decay of Nations, held on 27–28 September 2025 at SC Village in Chino, California.[1]

The event was promoted with the title Retribution and continued the fictional conflict between UNA and EKRON. The opposing armies were commanded by professional paintball player Ryan Greenspan and former professional player and coach Todd Martinez.[2]

Event

[edit]

Decay of Nations 18 was organised by SC Village as a two-day scenario competition.

The official event announcement used the promotional theme The Battle Rages On, while the event's command staff graphics and published timetable carried the Retribution branding.[1][2]

Participants competed in two opposing factions:

  • UNA: The blue faction.
  • EKRON: The red faction.

The event followed the established Decay of Nations format, combining objective-based missions, territory control and specialised scenario equipment.

Commanders

[edit]

The organisers announced changes to the command structure in August 2025, explaining that previously selected generals were unable to fulfil their roles.[3]

The final published command staff consisted of the following players.[2]

Role UNA EKRON
General Ryan Greenspan Todd Martinez
Executive officer Archie Uol Alexander "Tubby" Jara
Executive officer Carlos "Los" Velazquez Anthony Lujan
Executive officer Kidd Loop Jose Aranda
Executive officer Mean Gene Walter "Buttercup" Resendiz
Executive officer Peng Kin Noah Herrick

Event programme

[edit]

The organisers published a three-day programme covering registration, two days of scenario competition and an awards ceremony.[2]

Friday, 26 September

[edit]

Friday was allocated to player registration and preparation, with check-in scheduled from noon until 17:00.

Saturday, 27 September

[edit]

Saturday's competition took place on the lower playing fields at SC Village.

The published schedule included eight numbered missions, beginning at 10:00 and continuing throughout the afternoon.

A lunch break separated the earlier and later missions.

Sunday, 28 September

[edit]

Sunday's competition moved to the upper playing fields.

Three additional missions were scheduled between 10:00 and 13:00.

The concluding battle, known as Bloodbath, was scheduled for 14:00 at Blackhawk Outpost.

An awards ceremony and prize giveaway were scheduled to follow at 15:00.[2]

Game rules

[edit]

The organisers published detailed rules covering player eliminations, reinsertion points, special equipment and armoured vehicles.

Players were required to use event-approved paintballs, with First Strike rounds prohibited.

All markers were restricted to semi-automatic firing and a maximum muzzle velocity of 285 feet per second.[4]

Scenario equipment

[edit]

The event permitted approved specialist equipment, including:

  • Paintball tanks and armoured vehicles.
  • Single-player armoured suits known as mechs.
  • Defensive shields.
  • Paintball grenades.
  • Approved rocket launchers.

All specialised equipment required inspection by the event's prop master.

The event's prop master was identified as Eli Booth in a contemporary announcement circulated shortly before the event.[3]

The rules incorporated separate elimination systems for tanks and mechs, allowing approved explosive props to disable or eliminate armoured units.

Reinsertion

[edit]

Eliminated players could return to the game through designated reinsertion points, including their army's main command post and controlled flag stations.

Opposing forces could temporarily disable flag station reinsertion points by lowering the controlling team's flag.[4]

Registration

[edit]

The organisers introduced a tiered registration system, with discounted entry offered to successive groups of participants.

The first 100 registrations were advertised at US$100, increasing to US$115 for the next 100 players and US$130 for the following group.

Registration included admission to the weekend's games, one case of paintballs and compressed-air refills.[1]

Results

[edit]

The overall winning faction, final score and official attendance figure have not been established from the available published records.
