Paintball career

[edit]

Canyon Paintball

[edit]

Guch was involved in the establishment and operation of Canyon Paintball, a commercial paintball facility in Bandar Utama, Petaling Jaya.

A November 2010 article published by Crossings identified Guch among the owners and operators of the facility.[1]

The article named four people associated with the business:

  • David Guch
  • Tengku Munawir
  • Michael Chia, also known as Poison Doc
  • David Bareng

At the time, Canyon Paintball was described as having four woodsball fields and one inflatable-bunker tournament speedball field.

The facility occupied approximately seven acres, according to the contemporary article.

Canyon Paintball offered recreational paintball, organised group bookings and competitive speedball training.

Guch subsequently identified himself as the founder of Canyon Paintball in his professional biography.[2]

Field development

[edit]

Canyon Paintball developed facilities for recreational and competitive players.

The venue's website describes paintball packages, equipment rental, group activities and access for speedball training.

It also advertises low-impact paintball using .50-calibre equipment for younger participants.[3]

The facility is located at Changkat Bukit Utama in Bandar Utama, Petaling Jaya.

The venue has served as a training location for competitive teams participating in regional tournament paintball.

NXL Asia

[edit]

Establishment

[edit]

Guch founded NXL Asia, a tournament series associated with the National Xball League competition format.

His professional biography identifies him as the founder of both Canyon Paintball and NXL Asia.[2]

NXL Asia organised competitive paintball events in Malaysia, using X-Ball formats and attracting teams from the wider Asian region.

The exact founding date and original legal structure of NXL Asia have not been independently established.

Georgetown International X-Ball Cup 2018

[edit]

Guch was involved in organising the 2018 Georgetown International X-Ball Cup in Penang, Malaysia.

The competition formed part of the NXL Asia tournament programme.

Canyon Paintball's NXL Asia page identifies Guch as the league organiser in connection with an interview produced by GI Sportz.[4]

The event was promoted as an international competition bringing tournament paintball to Georgetown.

The available evidence establishes Guch's organising role but does not independently establish complete attendance figures or divisional results.

NXL Asia 2019

[edit]

NXL Asia organised a series of events in Malaysia during 2019.

The documented calendar included:

Event Location
Leg 1 Melaka
Leg 2 Penang
Leg 3 Johor Bahru

Canyon Paintball published event videos and reports associated with these tournaments.[4]

The website also documented competitive teams training at Canyon Paintball before the first leg.

The series illustrates the relationship between Guch's commercial field operations and his international tournament activities.

Thailand X Ball League

[edit]

TXBL Pattaya 2025

[edit]

Guch was associated with the organisation of TXBL Pattaya, held from 21 to 23 February 2025 on Jomtien Beach in Pattaya, Thailand.

The event featured an outdoor tournament field constructed beside the beach.

A retrospective report published in Facefull magazine identified Guch as the person behind the event.[5]

The report described a regulation-size inflatable-bunker layout, artificial turf, elevated safety netting and lighting for evening competition.

The event attracted international teams and players from Asia, Europe, Oceania and North America.

PBLeagues records 41 paid team entries across three divisions.[6]

Division Paid team entries
Division 1 11
Division 2 14
Division 3 16
Total 41

A retrospective magazine article reported 43 participating teams.

The difference between the magazine's reported attendance and the PBLeagues paid-entry count has not been reconciled.

The two figures should therefore be distinguished rather than presented as identical measures.

Tournament results

[edit]

The PBLeagues rankings identify the following division winners:

Division Winning team
Division 1 Guardians SFB
Division 2 UNDRPRVLGD
Division 3 YaZvezda Beket

These results are documented in the event's tournament records.[6]

Paintball photography

[edit]

Guch has also been associated with paintball photography.

A Tatler Asia article discussing recreational activities in Malaysia credited a paintball photograph to David Guch and the website PaintballPhotography.com.[7]

This provides evidence of his involvement in documenting paintball through photography, alongside his field and tournament activities.

The full history of the photography project has not been established.

Commercial activities

[edit]

Equipment and services

[edit]

Canyon Paintball provides paintball rental equipment, paintballs, field access and organised group activities.

The business has also offered speedball access for players using their own equipment.

Guch is listed as a contact on the Canyon Paintball website.[3]

Equipment imports

[edit]

Commercial trade information published by Market Inside identifies a Malaysian importing business under the name Canyon Paintball David Guch David.

The database reports import activity during the August 2024 to July 2025 period.[8]

The listing supports the existence of commercial paintball-related trading activity associated with the Canyon Paintball name.

However, the precise legal structure of the business and the relationship between the trade database entry and the venue have not been independently established.

Historical significance

[edit]

David Guch has been involved in several areas of Malaysian and Asian paintball development.

His documented activities include:

  • Operating Canyon Paintball by 2010
  • Developing recreational and tournament paintball facilities
  • Supporting speedball training in Malaysia
  • Founding the NXL Asia tournament series
