Carcharodons (New Zealand Paintball Team)
Carcharodons is a Wellington-based New Zealand tournament paintball team documented in the New Zealand Race Series from 2023. The team previously competed as PB Corp. The spelling Charcharodons in a later tournament record is a spelling error for the same team.
History
[edit]PB Corp
[edit]The team competed under the name PB Corp at the Easter round of the 2023 New Zealand Race Series. The published draw listed PB Corp alongside East Coast Defiance, Ballistics Unit, Expendables, Crisis, Rebels and Fatality.[1]
A comment associated with the draw requested that the PB Corp entry be renamed Carcharodons. The surviving organiser record does not show the draw being amended, but the identity of PB Corp and Carcharodons has subsequently been confirmed by a team contributor.
Carcharodons
[edit]Carcharodons was listed in the published draw for the King's Birthday round of the 2023 New Zealand Race Series. The event was held at Arena Paintball on 3–4 June and also included Crisis, Ballistics Unit, Expendables, East Coast Defiance and Fatality.[2]
The team returned for the final round of the series in October 2023. Nine teams were recorded at the event. Carcharodons advanced to the third-place play-off, where it was defeated 3–0 by the visiting French Polynesian team Phoenix Tahiti. Carcharodons consequently finished fourth.[3]
Carcharodons competed again at the Easter round of the 2024 Arena programme. The corrected draw listed the team alongside East Coast Defiance, Expendables, Crisis, Kaos Theory, PBHQ, Titans, CZ Factory, Ballistics Unit and Kaos.[4] First-day standings provide additional confirmation that Carcharodons participated, although a final placing has not been recovered.[5]
A later New Zealand Race Series record used the spelling Charcharodons. This is treated as a spelling error rather than a separate team.
