Belsales Performance
Belsales Performance (also known as Belsales) is a British paintball equipment manufacturer and customisation business based in Aldershot, Hampshire, England. Associated with Keith Belsey and Steve Belsey, the company became known for producing high-end customised Autococker paintball markers, particularly the Evolution and Predator ranges.[1][2]
Belsales was one of the early British specialists in Autococker modification, producing precision-machined components, pneumatic upgrades and complete tournament markers. Its equipment was distributed internationally, including through Smart Parts and Worr Game Products.[2]
History
[edit]Early operations
[edit]Belsales operated as a paintball equipment retailer, distributor and specialist airsmithing business during the early 1990s.
Keith and Steve Belsey were involved in the British tournament paintball scene and maintained a commercial relationship with Worr Game Products (WGP), the American manufacturer of the Autococker.
A contemporary tournament report published by WARPIG in 1995 identified Keith Belsey as WGP's European agent and described the Belsales shop as a supplier of Evolution Autocockers.[1]
The Evolution name was used for customised Autococker markers by 1994. United States trademark documentation subsequently filed by Belsales identified commercial use of the Evolution mark during 1993 and 1994.[3]
Belsales Limited was formally incorporated in England on 26 April 1996. Its registered directors included Keith Frank Belsey and Stephen Derek Belsey.[4]
Evolution Autococker
[edit]The Evolution was Belsales' principal range of customised Autococker markers.
Based on the WGP Autococker platform, the Evolution incorporated precision-machined components, modified pneumatic systems and distinctive external finishes.
Early Evolution models introduced features including reverse P-block back blocks, enlarged valve chambers, wire ball detents and modified trigger assemblies.[2][5]
The Evolution range was produced with several configurations and levels of equipment, including the Evolution Jetstream and Evolution Supernova.
Smart Parts distributed Evolution markers in the United States, with some American-market configurations incorporating Smart Parts barrels and compressed-air systems.[2]
The Evolution became associated with high-end mechanical tournament paintball equipment during the 1990s.
Tournament involvement
[edit]Belsales' equipment was used by British tournament players during the period when mechanical semi-automatic markers dominated competitive paintball.
At the April 1995 International Paintball Tournament of Toulouse, the British team Fly Fishing by J.R. Hartley competed using Evolution Autocockers.
The team included Keith and Steve Belsey. Contemporary reporting described the markers' use during the tournament and identified Belsales as WGP's European agent.[1]
Belsales subsequently became associated with the British team Predators, which adopted Autocockers during 1995.
This relationship resulted in the development of the Predator series of customised markers.[6]
Predator series
[edit]The Predator was a customised Autococker developed in association with the British tournament team Predators.
Introduced in 1995, the early Predator markers were based on left-feed Evolution bodies and commonly featured the team's distinctive green anodised finishes.
Later examples incorporated dedicated Predator body milling and engraving.[6]
Unlike the Evolution series, which was distributed in the American market through Smart Parts, the Predator range was distributed in the United States through Worr Game Products.[6]
Later Evolution models
[edit]In 1999, Belsales produced a limited-edition series known as the Last of the Millennium Evolution.
VintageRex documents the model as a .68-calibre mechanical semi-automatic Autococker and records a production quantity of 25 examples.[7]
Belsales also developed the Evolution X series, followed by later XE configurations.
These markers incorporated further developments in pneumatic components, trigger frames and body machining.
Collector documentation records several Evolution X and XE variants, including examples fitted with electronic trigger frames.[8]
Continued operations
[edit]Belsales continued supplying specialist Autococker components and technical support after the original mechanical tournament marker market declined.
Its published technical documentation includes instructions for the EVO 44 Magnum Ram, Supercharger Bolt, Supercharger Valve and other pneumatic components.[9]
Belsales Limited remained an active registered British company in October 2026, according to Companies House. This confirms the company's legal status but does not establish the current production status of every historical Belsales paintball product.[4]
Paintball markers
[edit]The following are the principal Belsales marker families documented in historical catalogues and collector records.
| Marker | Documented period | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Evolution | By 1994 | Custom Autococker featuring upgraded pneumatic components, trigger assemblies and body machining. |
| Evolution Jetstream | 1990s | Evolution configuration offered with a different equipment package. |
| Evolution Supernova | 1990s | Higher-specification Evolution configuration. |
| Predator | 1995 | Custom Autococker developed in association with the British Predators team. |
| Last of the Millennium Evolution | 1999 | Limited-edition Evolution model. VintageRex records 25 examples. |
| Evolution X | From approximately 1999 | Later Evolution platform incorporating revised pneumatic and mechanical components. |
| Evolution XE | 2000s | Further development of the Evolution range, including electronic configurations. |
Other equipment
[edit]Belsales manufactured replacement and upgrade components for the Autococker platform.
Pneumatic components
[edit]The company's products included:
- EVO 44 Magnum Ram: A replacement pneumatic ram incorporating alternative port orientations for pneumatic connections.
- EVO Supercharger Valve: A replacement valve and valve guide designed to improve gas flow through the firing valve.
- Evolution three-way valves: Pneumatic switching components used in mechanically operated Autocockers.
- Low-pressure regulators: Components controlling the pressure supplied to the marker's pneumatic cycling system.
Belsales' technical documentation identifies the EVO 44 Magnum Ram and Supercharger Valve as proprietary upgrade components.[9]
Mechanical components
[edit]Additional products included:
- REX Dialer: An adjustable velocity system for Autococker markers.
- EVO Supercharger Bolt: A replacement bolt incorporating a multi-port gas passage.
- Angry trigger frames: Custom mechanical trigger assemblies.
- Replacement internal components: Including valve, hammer and trigger-system parts.
These components were used both in complete Belsales markers and as aftermarket upgrades for other Autococker configurations.[5][9]
VintageRex catalogue
[edit]VintageRex lists six records under Belsales Performance.[2]
These include the Evolution, Predator and Last of the Millennium Evolution, together with an additional incomplete listing of the latter model.
The database also contains entries for the Inferno and Terminator.
These two names are associated with products documented by Arrow Precision, whose published operating manuals identify Inferno and Terminator as Arrow Precision trademarks.[10]
The available catalogue information does not establish whether the Belsales entries represent custom modifications, distribution arrangements or incorrect manufacturer attribution. They are therefore not included as independently verified Belsales marker designs.
