Auckland Faction (New Zealand Paintball Team)
Auckland Faction was a New Zealand competitive paintball team based in Auckland. The team won the 2015 South Auckland Paintball Club (SAPC) Open X-Ball series, finishing first at three of its four tournaments.[1][2]
Auckland Faction also competed in the 2015 Auckland Paintball Cup and the Asylum Paintball Cup, both held at Asylum Paintball in Kingseat, Auckland.[1][3][4]
History

[edit]Auckland Faction competed in all four rounds of the 2015 SAPC Open X-Ball series at Asylum Paintball.
At the opening event, held on 31 January–1 February, the team finished second among eight competitors, losing the final 3–2 to ADHD.[2][5]
Auckland Faction subsequently won the April, June and August rounds.[2]

The three consecutive victories secured the 2015 SAPC Open X-Ball season championship with 387.14 ranking points. Addicted finished second in the overall standings with 293.93 points, followed by ADHD with 242.5.[2]
Auckland Paintball Cup
[edit]Auckland Faction competed in the 2015 Auckland Paintball Cup on 7–8 March at Asylum Paintball. Seven teams entered the Open X-Ball competition, including Hard2Overcome and Clown Monkeys.[3]
Auckland Faction finished fourth with 55 ranking points. Hard2Overcome won the tournament, followed by Clown Monkeys and Expendables.[3]
Asylum Paintball Cup
[edit]Auckland Faction also participated in the Asylum Paintball Cup on 26–27 September 2015. The tournament included teams from New Zealand, Australia and French Polynesia.[4][6]
Contemporary PBLeagues match records document Auckland Faction defeating Phoenix Tahiti 4–2 and 3–2 in separate matches during the tournament.[4]
A report published by DYE Paintball on 13 October 2015 described a playoff between Auckland Faction and Australian team Hard2Overcome. According to the report, Hard2Overcome defeated Auckland Faction 4–2 in a match for third place.[6]
The surviving PBLeagues standings do not provide a completed overall classification, so no final tournament placing is assigned here.[4]

[edit]Auckland Faction's PBLeagues registration is dated 9 January 2015. This is a database registration date and does not establish when the team was formed.[1]
The database identifies Auckland as the team's home town and Asylum Paintball as its home field.[1]
The recovered team profile lists six tournament appearances during 2015, with the September Asylum Paintball Cup being the latest recorded entry.[1]
Historical roster records exist for these competitions, but individual player lists have not been recovered from the publicly accessible PBLeagues records. The team's complete playing roster and subsequent competitive history have not been established.
The unqualified teams named Faction in overseas PBLeagues records are not treated as Auckland Faction without direct identity evidence.
