Aisawan (paintball team)
Aisawan was a Thai tournament paintball team based in Bangkok, Thailand. The team competed in the Paintball Asia League Series (PALS), winning consecutive Division 1 championships at Paintball World Cup Asia in 2014 and 2015.[1][2]
Aisawan also won the 2014 PALS Division 1 season championship, the 2016 Phuket International tournament and multiple Singapore Paintball Series events. Its recorded competition history extends from 2014 to 2019.[1][2][3]
History
[edit]Formation and early competition
[edit]Aisawan was associated with the Thai tournament paintball organisation Aisawan International, established by Bangkok-based paintball organiser Acha Aisawan in 2013.[4]
The team's earliest recorded PBLeagues registration dates to 31 January 2014. The registration date does not establish when the team was originally formed.[1]
2014 PALS championship
[edit]Aisawan competed in Division 1 of the 2014 Paintball Asia League Series.
At the opening tournament in Bangkok, held from 28 to 30 March 2014, Aisawan finished first among seven Division 1 teams.
The team subsequently competed at World Cup Asia in Malaysia from 7 to 9 November.
Aisawan won the Division 1 championship, finishing ahead of Australia's STK, Iran's Datis and Malaysia's Raskal Malaysia.
The two tournament victories secured first place in the 2014 PALS Division 1 season standings.[1][2]
2015 World Cup Asia
[edit]Aisawan continued competing in the PALS Division 1 championship during 2015.
The team finished third at the opening Bangkok tournament in March and third at the Singapore leg in June.
At the season-ending World Cup Asia in Langkawi, Malaysia, held from 30 October to 1 November, Aisawan won Division 1.
The team finished first among sixteen competitors, ahead of Japan's Cobra Kai, Malaysia's Nemesis Legion and Thailand's Infernal.[1][5]
The victory marked Aisawan's second consecutive World Cup Asia Division 1 championship.
2016 competition
[edit]Aisawan continued competing internationally during 2016.
The team won the Open division at the first Singapore Paintball Series tournament in March.
Aisawan subsequently won the second Singapore Paintball Series event in September.
Later that month, the team won Division 1 X-Ball at the Phuket International tournament in Thailand, finishing first among eight teams.[1]
Later competition
[edit]Aisawan remained active in international tournament paintball during 2017.
At the GI Sportz Singapore Cup in May, the team finished fourth in the PALS P7 division.
The team subsequently finished third at the World Paintball Championship held in Thailand in December 2017.[1]
Aisawan also competed in Europe.
At the 2019 Paris-Chantilly Open in France, the team entered the Semi-Professional X-Ball division, finishing tenth among fourteen teams.[1]
The available records do not establish the team's subsequent competitive history.
Aisawan International
[edit]The team was associated with Aisawan International, a Thai paintball organisation founded by Acha Aisawan.
The wider Aisawan name appeared in Asian tournament competition through several independently registered squads, including SPEED Aisawan, Virgin Aisawan and Inception Aisawan.
At the 2014 World Cup Asia, SPEED Aisawan won Division 2 and Virgin Aisawan won Division 3, while the principal Aisawan team won Division 1.[2][6][7]
These were separate tournament entries, and their competitive results should not be attributed to the principal Aisawan roster.
