2024 NXL Lone Star Major
The 2024 NXL Lone Star Major was a National Xball League paintball tournament held at Audubon Park in Garland, Texas, from 26 to 28 April 2024. The event included professional and divisional X-Ball, five-player competition, classic formats, ten-player competition and three-player divisions.[1]
Severe weather interrupted the professional competition. Its postponed play-offs were completed on 20 June 2024 in Atlantic City, New Jersey, immediately before the 2024 NXL Mid-Atlantic Major. Red Legion finished first, ahead of San Antonio X-Factor.[2][3][4]
Venue and dates
[edit]The tournament's Texas venue was Audubon Park, 730 West Oates Road, Garland. The published event dates were 26–28 April 2024.[1]
Flooding, lightning and tornadoes prevented the professional division from concluding in Texas. The NXL subsequently scheduled its remaining play-offs for Thursday, 20 June, at Bader Field in Atlantic City. These matches remained part of the Lone Star Major rather than the Mid-Atlantic Major, which began the following day.[3][4]
Competition formats
[edit]The published programme offered the following X-Ball formats:[1]
- Professional: 15-minute matches with a six-point mercy rule.
- Semi-Professional and Division 2: 15-minute matches with a five-point mercy rule.
- Divisions 3 and 4: 12-minute matches with a four-point mercy rule.
- Division 5: ten-minute matches with a three-point mercy rule.
Additional categories included divisional and youth five-player competition, Classic Open five-player and seven-player competition, Amateur ten-player competition, and Amateur, Intermediate and Novice three-player competition. Pump Open five-player competition was also listed.[1]
No separate women's professional or amateur division was listed in the event programme or final standings.[1][2]
Professional competition
[edit]Los Angeles Ironmen, Houston Heat and Red Legion each finished the preliminary stage with four wins. Blast Camp also qualified for its first professional Sunday play-off appearance.[3]
The postponed professional matches were played on 20 June. Red Legion defeated Blast Camp 7–1 and Chicago Aftershock 5–3 before facing San Antonio X-Factor in the final.[4] The official final standings placed Red Legion first and X-Factor second.[2]
