2020 NXL World Cup
The 2020 NXL World Cup was a paintball tournament held from 12 to 15 November 2020 in Kissimmee, Florida, United States. It concluded the National Xball League (NXL) United States season, which had been reduced to two completed national events during the COVID-19 pandemic. San Diego Dynasty won the professional tournament and the professional season championship.[1][2][3]
Dates and venue
[edit]The official event dates were 12–15 November 2020. The venue was listed as NXL World Cup, at 6000 W Osceola Parkway, Kissimmee, Florida.[1]
The league's completed national calendar consisted of the 2020 NXL Las Vegas Open in March and World Cup in November.[1][3]
Competition formats
[edit]The programme included professional, semi-professional and Division 2–4 X-Ball; Division 3–5 five-player competition; open and amateur 10-player competition; and separate five-player and 10-player Mounds competitions. Pump, Classic, three-player and female three-player competitions were also offered.[1]
Professional X-Ball used 15-minute matches with a six-point mercy rule. Semi-professional and Division 2 matches used 15-minute games with a five-point mercy rule, while Divisions 3 and 4 used 12-minute games with a four-point mercy rule.[1]
Professional competition
[edit]San Diego Dynasty defeated San Antonio X-Factor 6–5 in the professional final. Edmonton Impact finished third and Tampa Bay Damage fourth.[2][4]
Contemporary reporting identified Ryan Greenspan as the Golden Barrel recipient, finals most valuable player and event most valuable player.[5]
