2019 ICPL Florida Open
The 2019 ICPL Florida Open was a International Classic Paintball League tournament held from 11 to 13 October 2019 at Central Florida Paintball in Lakeland, Florida. It concluded the league's inaugural season and featured professional ten-player, amateur ten-player and Open five-player competition.[1][2][3]
Chicago Aftershock won the professional tournament and season championship. Docs Warriors won the amateur tournament and season championship, while Extreme Rage won Open five-player.[2][3]
Venue and background
[edit]The Florida Open followed the inaugural 2019 ICPL Windy City Classic. Official event records identify the Florida venue as Central Florida Paintball, 9365 US Highway 98 North, Lakeland.[1][3]
A contemporary Bunkerkings report described the event as a ten-player classic tournament. The company entered a team combining its staff and dealers, with participants including Jacob Edwards and Chris Williams.[4]
Competition formats
[edit]The official results recorded three divisions:
- Professional ten-player: 19 teams.
- Amateur ten-player: 14 teams.
- Open five-player: 10 teams.[2]
Both ten-player divisions advanced nine teams from the preliminary round. Three-team semi-final groups then determined the three finalists in each division.[2]
Open five-player advanced six teams from the preliminary round. Two semi-final groups produced the two finalists.[2]
Results were recorded using game scores and round totals. The ten-player championships were decided through three-team final rounds rather than single championship matches.[2]
Professional ten-player
[edit]All Americans led the professional preliminary standings, scoring 771 points from eight games. Los Angeles Infamous ranked second overall and San Diego Dynasty third.[2]
Chicago Aftershock, Los Angeles Infamous and All Americans advanced from their respective semi-final groups to the final round.[2]
