2012 PSP Galveston Island Open
The 2012 PSP Galveston Island Open was the opening tournament of the 2012 Paintball Sports Promotions (PSP) season. It took place from 9–11 March 2012 at Galveston Island Paintball in Galveston, Texas, United States.[1]
Severe weather disrupted the tournament. The divisional competitions were completed in Galveston, but the unfinished professional competition was carried over to 19 April at the Phoenix Open. Tampa Bay Damage defeated Houston Heat 7–1 in the rescheduled professional final.[2][3][4]

Professional teams played RaceTo-7. Divisions 1 and 2 used RaceTo-5, while Divisions 3 and 4 used RaceTo-4. Separate Division 3, Division 4 and open pump competitions used five-player RaceTo-2.[1]
Weather disruption
[edit]Heavy rain disrupted play and damaged the event facilities. Games resumed on Saturday following recovery work, but the professional schedule remained unfinished when the Galveston portion of the tournament ended.[2]
The postponement affected unfinished professional preliminary matches as well as the subsequent elimination rounds. The seven non-professional competitions nevertheless produced their champions in Galveston.[2][3]
One professional match, Tampa Bay Damage against Omaha Vicious, was interrupted and played across two days in Galveston. Damage eventually won 6–5 in overtime. This was separate from the matches subsequently carried over to Phoenix.[2]
Professional completion at Phoenix
[edit]The remaining professional matches were played on Thursday, 19 April, before the separate Phoenix Open competition began. They retained their identity as Galveston Island Open matches.[4]
Six preliminary matches were completed that day, followed by the quarter-finals, semi-finals and championship final. Damage and Dynasty received quarter-final byes.[4]
