2009 PSP Mid-Atlantic Open
The 2009 PSP Mid-Atlantic Open was a Paintball Sports Promotions (PSP) tournament held from 30 April to 3 May 2009 at PBC Sports Park in Rock Hill, South Carolina. It was the second event of the 2009 PSP season. Los Angeles Ironmen won the professional division, defeating Philadelphia Americans 5–4 in the final.[1][2]
Competition
[edit]The tournament featured professional and semi-professional RaceTo-7, Division 1 and Division 2 RaceTo-5, Division 3 RaceTo-4, and separate Division 3 and Division 4 five-player RaceTo-2 competitions.[2]
Contemporary WARPIG coverage continued to describe the professional competition as NXL and the longer divisional formats as X-Ball. The event's APPA scoreboards identify the competitions by their RaceTo designations.[1][2]
Professional and divisional X-Ball competition began on Thursday, while the five-player RaceTo-2 divisions began on Saturday.[1]

[edit]Los Angeles Ironmen defeated Dynasty 7–5 in the semi-finals, while Philadelphia Americans beat Tampa Bay Damage by the same score. The Ironmen subsequently won the final 5–4. Damage defeated Dynasty 7–2 for third place.[1][2]

Division 3 results discrepancy
[edit]WARPIG reported that Wired defeated Nor*Car Hype 4–0 for third place. However, the surviving APPA final-round scoreboard records an awarded win for Nor*Car Hype and a forfeit for Wired. The placings page lists Nor*Car Hype third and leaves Wired unplaced. Consequently, no confirmed fourth-place finisher is given here.[1][2][3]
