Season overview

[edit]

Iberian Cup

[edit]

Joy Stockholm began its defence of the 2007 CPL championship by winning the Iberian Cup. The team defeated Copenhagen Ducks 5–0 in the professional final.[2]

The event took place at Playa del Castillo in Fuengirola. Contemporary Spanish coverage described plans to cover the beach sand with artificial turf and install tournament fields and spectator stands.[7]

Budapest Bullets finished third, Frankfurt Syndicate fourth and Vision PPC Grenoble fifth. Joy left the opening round with 100 championship points, followed by Copenhagen on 88 and Budapest on 80.[1]

Campaign Cup

[edit]

Moscow Phoenix won the second round in London, ahead of Budapest Bullets, Joy Stockholm and Chilli Peppers Riga.[1]

Budapest's second consecutive podium finish brought its total to 168 points. Joy retained the championship lead with 180, while Moscow Phoenix moved to 156 and Copenhagen Ducks reached 128.[1]

Toulouse World Cup

[edit]

London Nexus won the Toulouse round, held at Parc de Sesquières from 4 to 6 July.[4][8] Nexus had finished tenth at Málaga and 13th at London, while Toulouse runner-up Philly Dogs had placed 11th and 12th at the opening two events.[1]

Budapest finished third at Toulouse, ahead of Moscow Caste and Joy Stockholm. The result moved Budapest into the championship lead with 248 points, four ahead of Joy on 244. Moscow Phoenix remained third on 184 despite finishing tenth at the event.[1]

A separate Intercontinental Cup competition was held alongside the Toulouse tournament and was won by Joy Stockholm. Its result was distinct from Joy's fifth-place CPL finish.[8]

[edit]

Philly Dogs won the Nürburgring round, defeating Joy Stockholm 5–3 in the final. Budapest Bullets beat Marseille Icon 5–4 in the third-place match.[5]

Joy's second place restored its championship lead. With one round remaining, Joy had 332 points and Budapest 328. Moscow Phoenix stood third on 248, followed by Philly Dogs on 232.[1]

London Nexus secured its second event victory at Paris-Disney, defeating Philly Dogs 5–1 in the final. Joy Stockholm finished third with a 5–2 victory over Oslo Menace.[9]

Budapest finished fifth, earning 64 points and ending the season on 392. Joy's 80 points for third place brought its total to 412, securing the championship by 20 points.[1]

Philly Dogs finished third overall with 320 points after reaching the final at each of the last three events. Moscow Phoenix took fourth with 304, while Nexus's two victories contributed to fifth place on 292.[1]
