2008 Malaysian Super7 Championship

From WikiPaintball

The 2008 Malaysian Super7 Championship, promoted as Malaysian Super7 '08, was a seven-player paintball tournament held on 30–31 August 2008 at the Malaysian Paintball Academy (MAPAAC) in Petaling Jaya, Selangor, Malaysia. It was presented by Nemesis Paintball Club as an official feeder event for the Malaysian National Paintball League.[1]

Nemesis Legion won Division 1. Lemon Ruski, RAZ Legion and Romeoz won Divisions 2, 3 and 4 respectively.[2]

Organisation

[edit]

MY-NPL headquarters and Nemesis Paintball Club announced the tournament in conjunction with Malaysia's 51st Independence Day celebrations.[1]

Field walking and a captains' meeting were scheduled for 29 August, followed by competition on 30 and 31 August. The venue was MAPAAC at Kompleks Sukan Astaka, Petaling Jaya.[1]

Advertised format

[edit]

Teams could register nine active players and field a maximum of seven in each game.[1]

The announcement advertised Open, Amateur and Novice categories. Amateur rosters could include a maximum of two Division 1 players, while Novice competition was restricted to Malaysian Division 3 and Division 4 teams, excluding Division 1 and Division 2 players.[1]

The published results used four numbered divisions. The surviving announcement and results do not explain the difference between the advertised categories and final divisional labels.[1][2]

Distinction from other events

[edit]

An earlier MY-NPL Super7 tournament was originally advertised for 30 December 2007. Its announcement was subsequently updated to state that it had been postponed to 6 January 2008.[3] It was a separate advertised event from the August championship.

The August tournament should also be distinguished from the International Super Seven Championship, first held in 2009.
