2006 PSP Texas Open

From WikiPaintball

The 2006 PSP Texas Open opened the 2006 Paintball Sports Promotions season from 16–19 February at Settler's Park in Round Rock, Texas. Philadelphia Americans won the professional NXL competition.[1][2]

Competition changes

[edit]

The NXL changed from a season-long league culminating in championship playoffs to a professional tournament division awarding prizes at individual events. Additional teams joined the existing franchises.[1]

Divisional X-Ball replaced double-elimination brackets with preliminary groups, guaranteeing teams more matches. PSP also introduced five-man X-Ball, replacing its traditional five-man format.[1]

Professional competition

[edit]

Philadelphia defeated Boston Red Legion 7–6 in the semi-finals, while Baltimore Trauma beat XSV 6–5. Philadelphia then defeated Trauma 6–5 in the championship match. Boston beat XSV 9–4 for third place.[1]
